There might be an indirect price Differance if you switch. Such as, if you have your cable internet bundled with the tv, it might cost more to pay for Direct tv and cable internet seperatley.

I'm sure price varies, but just as important is getting what you want. I like having OnDemand. That football shiz would be nice though.

I found that DirecTV was a LOT cheaper than cable. One sticking point for me is that I get local channels from a city that, while it is closer as the crow flies, is actually further away by road & consequently is less useful for me (as I tend to go to the other city)... You can check what local channels are available for you on the directv site.

DirecTV will occassionally go wacky during really heavy rain, but not nearly as often or as bad as the "ditch the dish" adverts the cable industry runs.

The football and other sports packages are really cool but quite spendy.

and honestly, my cable gets choppy at times, and pixilated as if it were a dish anyway. (im unable to have a dish cause of the condo assoc.)

That's not legal NK, we fought it here and won easily. You just can't attach the dish to shared property and some other bullshit. Yet, I found a way around it and love DTV and all the packages.

Dcable does have one major advantage though. The on-demand feature is f-in awesome and I'd love to have it. Another smaller advantage, or perhaps it's wiped out bc of other higher prices, the high def programming costs on DTV. Still, DTV is cheaper.

I have Cable. Therefore, Cable is better.

What about all the costs of Direct TV like needing to rent a box for every TV and paying other equipment rental charges?

I am asking because I dont know.

Also, I can't get Direct TV where I live, I am in a condo with no south facing windows. It stinks.

DirectTV is great. We had both cable and satellite for a while--cable because of our
cable modem plus we were trying out their high def channels--and finally got rid of
the cable. It was really expensive compared to satellite, and the channel menu etc
was a lot harder to use. Plus DirectTV has the Center Ice package!

LJ, I have the same issue and bipassed it by constructing a pole for the dish on the back of my bedroom patio which allows it to overlook the top of my building. Seriously, it works great and was worth it.

Another factor is the responsiveness of DTV to it's actual customers and or fans of shows/channels. This we should all hold important as WNEW fucked us, while DTV stepped up and made the right move. Just another factor you peeps should add into your overall choice.
