Whenever I try and watch a QT movie in my Firefox browser. Well, I won't say whenever because sometimes it works. Mostly though, like when I wanted to see the X-Men 3 trailer, or the new Superman trailer out today it don't. What I get is the big, blue Quicktime Q in the middle of the window like usual, then if sort of fades, background like, and a question mark appears over it. Sometimes I get a message from FF that I need the add on and would I like to install it and blah blah. I can't tell you how many times I've done that, both automatically and manually, the full version with iTunes as well as the standalone QT version, and none of it seems to work.

Any ideas?

Firefox just released version 1.5.0.3 yesterday and it seems to have fixed just about every glitch I've encountered. If that doesn't work it'll take someone a lot more tech savvy than me to help ya.

Good luck.

Firefox is a waste of time, period. Nothing but compatability problems with almost every kind of video file I ever tried to download in it.

Dump Firefox, stick with IE and just watch the spyware with programs that deal with it.

I have been using SlimBrowser for over 2 years and haven't had any problems. All the compatibility of IE and it has tabbed browsing windows. And yes, it is free.

I still don't really understand what people have against IE.

its a hack job, runs slower than firefox (especially starting up) on my comp, and i dont care for the non-tabbed interface, which they may have changed recently to compete with firefox.

just my thoughts on ie

anyone use opera? netscape?

....aol? aside from ron

Tabbed browser windows is the reason I switched. Much neater on my screen, and that means a lot because I am anal retentive.

Its bloated, has all kind of security problems, lacks many features
that other browsers have had for years, and just sucks all around.
I use Firefox over IE, even though IE probably runs better on my computer (FF's problems with memory are one of its only downfall). IE has gotten spyware shit on my computer and I hate that its actually integrated into the OS, plus I'd rather support the open source community than microsoft.

Try the new version of FireFox -- it worked for me. I've been
having video play problems similar to yours and it fixed them...

I.E. sucks donkey balls.. Most non-secure thing I've ever encountered.

Yeah, I got the FF update, actually I think I even got it before I posted this thread, and no dices. And lest anyone get upset, the previous post was meant in the best winking spirit of fun.

IE has active x.
Is that the problem? Becasue I'm missing Active X? It does seem that the fancier the page is where the video is located, the less chance there is of me being able to view it. Like I said, the Superman and X3 trailers are all on their own fancy sites.

ActiveX is how spyware gets on your computer. There's a reason Firefox shouldn't have it. Also, if you've ever used IE, you'll know you have to download quicktime seperately... it doesn't come supported
