I would buy either one, honestly. They still seem a little unstable. If i were you, I would talk to an investor or broker and kick some ideas off of him for some good blue chips.

if you just want the biggest possible return the soonest, go penny stocks. Its risky, but you can double your money in 3 hours.

billy, you can change the name of the thread

i bought xm before howard or o&a were on satelite, so that didn't influence my decision

i bought because:

a. brand recognition. i knew more about xm

b. it seemed local. i was in dc

c. commercial free. i hate the ads on fm. even npr has ads now

d. quality hardware, myfi is still better than anything sirius has, and i'll be upraging to inno when i can. plus it's online

e. price. i guess they were the same, but a-d makes xm a better value for the dollar.

no edit: i will be upRAGING

Well, both of these stocks are extremely volatile because nobody has a clue what's going to happen in the future. Neither company is a good choice. They are both overvalued, which is one of the reasons why they are taking hits recently. People want to get rich quick. So they buy companies that they think will grow quickly. When shit doesn't pan out like they expected, the market punishes them. It's NEVER a good idea to "gamble" on a stock. When you invest, you should invest long term. You should look for a company that will do well in the long term. The reason for this is, because you pay less tax on long term gains (1 year plus), and it helps eliminate the short term volitility. If a company is a good company, it will do well in the long term. Nobody knows what's going to happen in the short term. Also, investing in 1 stock is a bad idea. You should either invest in a mutual fund, or invest in a few to limit volatility. You should check out warren buffets stock (brk.a and brk.b). Look at it's slow and steady gain over the years. Pretty amazing.

That being said. If nazi's had a gun to my head, and I had to invest in either of those stocks, I would choose XM. The reason is, they have the technological lead, and the subscriber lead. Siruis now has the name lead, because of howard stern, but in the end, I don't think it will make that much of a long term effect. Sirius is also willing to spend more on talent, but in the end, that's probably a mistake. I think the costs will outweigh the benefit.

There are much better stocks out there than XMSR and SIRI.

If you're having trouble deciding which stock to buy, I have an IDEA
for YOU! Why am I giving you this free advice when I could keep it to
myself and be filthy RICH. I'll tell you why. It's becuase I'm JIM
CRAMER and if you want my advice regarding the stocks between XM and
Sirius. DON'T go for the popular ones out there. WHAT you want to do is
get more for your investment. AND what radio stock can you get the most
for your money? How bout 92.3 FREE FM! Why you ask. I'll tell you. Cuz
I'M JIM CRAMER and this is my show. REAL MONEY!*

*92.3
Free FM does not endorse the stocks promoted on the JIM Cramer Real
money show. And if Jim Cramer buys a stock or owns one mention on the
show, he's required to hold onto the stock for 1 month and whatever
whatever whatever.**

**It goes something like that if you listen to his show.
