I substitute teach during the school year, which along with a side job in an info booth and publishing the occasional story, keeps me in the black. Now that the school year is almost over, my main source of income will be gone for the summer. I really enjoy my side job and don't want to give it up, but its on fridays, saturdays and sundays and that makes it hard to find a job for the summer.

I don't have any money in the bank because i just moved to a new apartment so I can't coast the two months. Should i be willing to give up the second job in order to find something for the summer, or should i stick with what i enjoy and try to work around it?

DH,

have you checked with your school district about subbing summer classes if they have them?

and if they dont you might wanna check surrounding districts.

Now there's a job: if you think teaching is sometimes a challenge, teaching summer school is bad enough, but subbing for summer school?

I think I take back my advice.

If you can file, use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc... I would suggest registering at some temp agencies. I used to be a recuiter at one, and we had a lot of summer work that was 4 days a week, or random assignements for a day here, a day there. Usually paid $10-18/hr (in 1999).
