Get the Hideout on XM 152!! [Archive] - RonFez.net Messageboard

For those of you unfamiliar, the Hideout is a great show on WTKS in Orlando.  The two main hosts, El Jefe and J Dubs, as well as producers Tommy Bateman and Chunks, worked with R&F at WJFK and are great friends of the show.  You also might remember that J Dubs lost a football bet to Fez and came to NYC to get the Buccaneers logo tattooed on his ass.  Ron has mentioned on the air a few times that the Hideout ought to be broadcast on XM Channel 152 (where other WTKS shows like the Monsters and Phillips File are).   The Hideout belongs on 152 and would be a great addition to XM's roster.  I just spoke to J Dubs, and he said the best way to show support for having the Hideout added to the XM lineup is to send an e-mail using this link: <a href="http://www.xmradio.com/contact_us/contact_us.jsp">http://www.xmradio.com/contact_us/contact_us.jsp</a>If you would like to hear the show, check out their series of podcasts available through iTunes.  It really is a great show that would fit great on XM.edit: for those of you unfamiliar, I have added some clips of the show.  These are from their special Mother's Day show in which the members of the show competed against each other at a variety of challenges, and the loser has to call his mother and tell her some embarassing secret.  <a href="http://www.ronfez.net/mediastorage/myspace/mom1.mp3" target="_self">part 1</a><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/mediastorage/myspace/mom2.mp3" target="_self">part 2</a><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/mediastorage/myspace/mom3.mp3" target="_self">part 3</a><a href="http://www.ronfez.net/mediastorage/myspace/mom4.mp3" target="_self">part 4</a>

I was watching some video from The Hideout last night. This isn't El Jefe in the pic, but the guy is sitting in Jefe's chair. FWIW as a rookie 202 and R+F and O+A  fan;(i don't think that matters much, other than this may be an oh-so-slight indicator of the recent newbie XM bump) I have been noticing "The Hideout" posts and (i think) a few R&F mentions...I am (getting) interested in what seems to be a strong recommendation....I will (probably) check out the links (Thank you MB)...any planned x-overs soon?

Ron and Fez announced that The Hideout will be on FreeFM soon. Does anyone remember if it's next week or the week after? We have to give 110% support when they're on. Maybe they'll pick up the show. That would be very cool!

I heard these guys talking with Ron & Fez about their old digs at Mid-Michigan Radio Group in Lansing.  They talked about how small the Q106 studio was, but the studio they were in was the Edge 92.1 studio, which was right next to it.  Compared to the Edge studio, the Q106 studio was downright spacious, although probably nothing compared to what they have at Free FM.They were right, though....there is a Goodwill store in that plaza, appropriately situated for people who work in radio.  There was also a pizza buffet around the corner where you could stuff yourself silly with pizza and pop for 5 bucks....also very attractive to those who made their living in this medium.

Do you think there is any way that J-Dubs and El Hefe will re-think being called "Next"? I really like what I have heard of the show, but their new name just doesn't cut it.

There is too much stuff already called "Next" - a TV Show, Movie, a Software Company, an Online Shopping Site, a Clothing Retailer, a Petroleum Industry Education Program, etc. The list goes on and on... :wallbash:

The Hideout was a good name and people know it. Why not stick with it? Even if they want to rename themselves, why choose a name that already has tons of stuff associated with it?

Not trying to be "Carl Complainer," just wondering if anybody has some inside info.

I like the Hideout name better, but I don't think it fits with what they were trying to do.(and I did/do like the concept of NEXT)

Clear Channel obviously doesn't own it, because they used it on JFK for the test shows, so I really can't think of a reason besides they were going for something different than the "shock jock" type stuff that The Hideout was.

I wouldn't worry about the legality of it and the guys don't care they are never going to get back together and do the The Hideout again(maybe something else) so PM me if you want the FTP addy. Also the site has been advertised numerous times on both terrestrial and satellite by both Dubs and Jefe
