Just wondering if this is a good idea, or if anybody has experience doing so...

I dont know for sure, since i have never done this type of stuff, but....

i read in a book somewhere that you should grow it in your basement. the heat generated by the intense flourscent lights is supressed that way, so anyone passing over head looking for the heat cant spot it. also, the enviorement is more controled in a basement too. use double filtered water, PVC tubes, not rubber hoses, they tend to break down for the constant flow of the water and make your stuff taste nasty. use bat poop as fertilizer. get the mirical grow herd planting pods to start and go hyrdo, remember the filtered water and keep the grow area bug free with fly traps. what else do you need to know? i can LOOK it up in a file i have somewhere.

If you have ever once seen a helicopter ever in your neighborhood for anything, the answer is no. If you have a fence its not hard to get away with one plant or 2, cause no one will really see it. Just be careful, the plants smell alot more then most people think before they grow them. If its a pretty good quality plant, even just one with a decent output usually is noticable from 10 or 15 feet away.

I would reccomend not doing it. If you really need to grow herb that bad, go with inside. Find a closet and bite the bullet for grow lights and the slight increase in your energy bill. If its too much of a rate increase in energy, you could always just offload some of your harvest to friends.

I mean, ya know, I'm no expert or anything

Don't do this in a house you own. (see: civil forfeiture)

Move to a state that will most likely have medical use legalized soon and then get a doctor's note.

Hydro is better/easier than dirt but may not taste as good.

Those infrared helicoptors flying around looking for heat is just a scare tactic. Especially if you're in a basement.

TRENTON -- New Jersey would become the 12th state to legalize marijuana for people with debilitating medical conditions under a bill slated to be discussed next month by state lawmakers.

Sen. Joseph Vitale, chairman of a Senate health panel, said he has scheduled a June 8 discussion to hear from experts on the bill proposed by Sen. Nicholas Scutari. Vitale said he supports the concept, but has questions.

"It's really an effort to provide some sort of relief for people and some compassion," said Vitale, D-Middlesex.

The legislation has long been proposed by Scutari, D-Union, but has never received a legislative hearing.

Though 11 states allow medical marijuana, in June 2005 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the federal government can prosecute people who use marijuana no matter what a state law says.

Terrence P. Farley, an Ocean County assistant prosecutor and spokesman for two state anti-drug law enforcement groups, said the bill is a veiled attempt to legalize drugs.

"This is how they're trying to get marijuana legalized," said Farley, who also is director of the county anti-narcotics force.

Scutari said he has no hidden agenda.

"We're walking in the front door to attempt the legalization of a substance that has been utilized for pain relief for centuries," he said. "This is about compassion for people who are at their weakest or on their death beds."

The Assembly hasn't scheduled any hearings on the bill, but Governor Corzine said last year that he would sign a medical marijuana bill into law.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently reiterated its opposition to medical marijuana. The American Medical Association, National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society and National Multiple Sclerosis Society reject its use.

An April report by federal Department of Human Services agencies found no data supported marijuana for general medical use.

The National Academy of Sciences has found marijuana can help patients with chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting and AIDS wasting.

I hope NJ passes the bill next month for medicinal use. Unfortunately the lobbyists against it like the Dupont's & the Merck's have their speeches down like robots and nobody ever confronts their misinformation. THESE ROBOTS ARE PAID ALOT OF MONEY BY THE DRUG COMPANIES! They tell me that the 150mg of Oxycontin I take daily is totally safer than smoking a joint. I think Oxycontin is deadly, keeps me from working and makes me nauseous every day. If I could get a pot script I would get one but even I would admit that medical marijuana couldn't help the severe pain I'm in every day at this point. Maybe it would help after I get my artificial disc implanted and have only minor pain, but when I have my days of pain levels of 8 and above, all I want to do is take a handful of pills, lay in bed & sleep.

I have friends with MS who use medical marijuana and it prolonged their life and improved their quality of life also. HOW IS A DRUG COMPANY GOING TO SAY TO SOMEONE WHO CANT HOLD DOWN THEIR FOOD TO EAT A PILL? THEY CANT EAT ANYTHING YOU IDIOTS! THE PILLS GET THROWN BACK UP. DUH DUH DUH!!!!!!
