This weekend usually marks the start of summer. After a very mild Spring, where it never got too hot or humid, today was the first day that summer marked it's return to the NYC Metro area.

Since I am in a money conservation mode, I hadn't even touched the thermostat from hot or cold since April. It had been just that nice.

My girl and I had been redecorating the house, trying to give it a feel that signifies both of our tastes... we hung up a poster of the first amendment, panaromic shots of GIants and Yankees stadiums, and pictures of us, our families, and people we care about.

I had noticed how warm it was getting in the apartment, and I checked the thermostat - the interior temp was 82 degrees.

Time to turn on the AC!

So I cranked it up. I heard the fans come on, and we closed all the windows.

An hour later, I noticed I was still sweating.

The thermostat still ready 82. Uh-oh.

I walked outside of my unit - and realized that my apartment's AC unit wasn't running.

AAAAAAARGH!!!!

This sucks. It looks like my AC is broken. (Either that, or someone forgot to power it back up when they did maintenace earlier this month) I had to go over to my parents' house, and rummage through the basement for some fans to put near the windows to get some air circulating. This STINKS.

I was talking about this tonight with mikeyboy. We both have railway apts. I put the AC in the living room. It's where I sleep in the summer because the "good" TV is there. The "middle room" where I keep my computer gets to be hotter than hell. It's no fun. I like to be on line but I sweat like a whore in church.

The "Middle room" (I have a railway apt). My computer is in the middle room without AC. I sweat like a bitch in this room. I really can't wait til Fall.

I'll get to that in Fuzzy's Metal thread, later.

Anyway, anyone who has ever lived in a cape can tell you, upstairs is hot as balls! I did not get a chance to put in the window AC units. I only have small window fans running right now. I tossed and tuned and sweated until about 1:30. Finally fell asleep. If they are less than 30 years old I would think that you would have circuit breakers instead of fuses. Breakers are a lot safer to check and fix. Just like flipping a switch. Just find the circuit breaker box, look at all of the breakers, all of the "switches" should be "flipped" in the "ON" direction. (Usually toward the center of the box) If one is in the "OFF" direction, the circuit breaker is blown (no homo).
