Why do Asians love outlet shopping so much?

<p>Have you ever noticed this?&nbsp; Outlet shopping places are filled with Asians.&nbsp; I was up at Woodbury Commons yesterday and my eyes were opened to the love that Asians have for outlet shopping.&nbsp; Everywhere you look you see Asians, its like they flock to these places.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Anyone have any idea as to why the Asians have the love for outlet shopping?&nbsp;</p>

Maybe they like bargain shopping to save some money for their Atlantic City trips.&nbsp; I find that there are many more Asians in AC than at the outlets.&nbsp; And what's with every single casino having to have a noodle bar right on the casino floor?&nbsp; They can't stop gambling long enough to walk more than 10 feet for their dim sum?

<p>I worked for a major camera chain in the late 90's. At that time, it was actually cheaper to buy cameras here than it was in their countries of origin. There were three major things that we had to keep in mind, when selling to Asians. </p><p>1. They had to be made in Japan (not China, Malaysia, Taiwan, etc).</p><p>2. They had to cost under $200, so they didn't have to pay for the tariff.</p><p>3. You had to have a lot of the model that they bought. They were usually part of a large tour group. When you were done selling the first guy a camera, all the others wanted the same model.</p><p>Number's 2 &amp; 3 probably answer your question. They need items that cost less than $200 and, since a lot of Asians travel as part of a tour group, you tend to see a lot of them at once. I loved it when they'd come into the store. As long as you're properly stocked, you can make one hell of a commission with about 20 minutes worth of selling effort.</p>
