I will be working from home soon, and need to set up a business line. Right now at work, I have a 2 line phone. There are 2 buttons on my phone, if I'm on the phone and the other line rings, I can put my call on hold, then press the other button to pick up the other line.

How do I set up a 2 line phone at home? Do I actually need 2 seperate lines or can I work it out somehow with call waiting? Anyone know a phone service that will allow me to transfer and/or conference people in?

Most homes are pre-wired for two lines -- the interior wires from the telco's box have four conductors. Each line takes two conductors. You should be good to go. Verizon offers all manner of options for teleconferencing, call forwarding etc. You can also get distinctive ring (unique phone numbers each of which rings differently -- first line rings as normal, 2nd does a double ring, etc).

All the verizon stuff can get a bit spendy though.

Cool, thanks. I'm most likely going to go with Optimum Voice so I can get a package deal. So I will need 2 seperate lines, I guess.

Then call Optimum Voice and see if they have a two line option. They'll tell you all you need to know.
Make sure you go for the Optimum Triple play! Everything is $100 a month. And I found out it hardly goes up the second year. I think I jumped about $5 total! Check the Optimum FAQ to see if they have a 2 line solution to avoid the 2nd cable.
Be careful, Missy. I saw a Seinfeld episode once....
