Why do some companies insist on changing logos which have stood the test of time? I admit that I don't know much about marketing but it seems to me that most people tend to get a little turned off by change. They seem to like familiar things, particularly when it comes to food. That's why there's such a term as "comfort food". So why would Sprite change their logo to some funky, spacy kind of ying- yang thing?

Here's the new Sprite logo:

Which to me kind of looks like the Quiznos logo:

Which kind of looks like the Fusion Razor logo:

Sprite's still in a green bottle, with the same "Sprite" text logo, and it still tastes the same.

Changing the labeling is trying to attract new customers.

And yet some logos will never change because they are recognized without even having words attached to it.

There was a study a few years back and out of the sample group 97% of children by age 3 recognized the Mickey Mouse icon as Mickey mouse.

Here's another well known logo that is recognized internationally:

I was lucky enough to see the in San Francisco recently.
