I think the cast of characters around the show were funnier back in the BIG ASS days but Ron & Fez have stayed great just rollin with the times and changes.

to save you some ball busting, or at least help deflect it, the majority of the ronfez.net regulars are from ny/nj and are loyalists to when the show was up there (and is now back up there). but i got hooked while they were in dc, along with plenty of others here. it was a great show in dc, it was great before, and its great now. its all fuckin great, and its nice to see new faces. welcome to the neighborhood
while i do think the show is very funny i think the late night shift at WNEW doing the .com show was great. it seamed to have a natural flow. so did O&A for that matter. they all just seam annoyed to be doing the show for some reason. Anthony seams to hate being bothered with the show.

I think the lack of alcohol may be to blame.

no, the freedom is great and less breaks is great. but something just seams slightly amiss.

the show has been as funny since i first heard it in 2000 ...

it is what is: a consistently funny (and insightful) program regardless of the timeshift, freqency, location and supporting staff (although, i'll argue that giant brian was an underrated 3rd mic)

the endless, petty hyper-criticism (of both shows) is really becoming a bore

Yeah, I agree comparing the show is pretty pointless.

But, I
do feel that the XM show has Ron and Fez at the top of their
game. They were unhappy in DC (as they frequently say now) and
sometimes it did show. WNEW was great, but I love their ability
to say whatever they want and have short breaks.

And Earl rules.

I think the primary difference between the three eras of the show is that Fez has more of a bitter tone to his voice than he did at WNEW.

Perhaps it's still getting adjusted after the absolutely tumultuous year he's had. But other than that, they are back, they are funny, and that's all that matters.

I was listening to a very old show last night, and I realized that Fez can be just as sharp as Ron... Al was talking about how, when he's working, it's a "9-5 job". Fez immediately jumps in and says, "Just in case our listeners are filling anything out, it's 7-11."

It's a major, MAJOR no-no to encourage listeners to do something regarding an arbitron diary, but Fez was just hysterical.

I don't know, I think I have to agree with the first poster. If you remember on wednesday's show, Ronnie said that they were looking to make a best-of show and they couldn't even find one bit for it. That leads me to believe the shows on XM haven't been that good if they can't even find one bit to put in a best of.

BTW, Ron didn't say "Suck on a D" on JFK he said "Sip a D"

Oh come on you fags! This stuff is gold. Even with his Stent, Fez is awesome... Ron is one of the funniest men on-the-fly that there is (and their timing off each other is great)... Dave is the new Orange Ball Of Faliure (only better!)... And with the Paul-O contributions, Mikey D, and little Lenay every once in a while (and hopefully Bronx Johnny will stick around)... This show is a gem in a radio wasteland! You people are spoiled... Think about radio without RNF and ONA... Oh wait! We had that for about two years here in New York... It SUCKED! And to top it off... Ron can pull off a serious interview at a moments notice like no one else. Just look back at the Romero and Pollack interviews recently. He can be riffing big time with Dave, Fez and Earl. Then He can hit a great interview right on the mark. Then as soon as the interviewee leaves the studio they can go right back into the comedy... These guys are outstanding!

I have been a pretty big fan since 2001, listening since 2000 on WNEW. I have always felt that they are the best radio show going (including the present day), but I also feel that part of being a fan of something is being able to criticize it without trashing it because you really care about the show and want it to be the best it can.

For example, I am a longtime NY Giants fan, but I am extremely critical of them at times (as are many true Giants fans). I feel that it is a disservice to just be a cool-aid drinker and say, "It is the best, it is great" no matter what is being shown or heard, whatever one is watching or listening to as their favorite show.

I love this site and the message board, and there are some really cool and nice people on here, but I feel that some members get way too bent out of shape and vindictive if anyone makes the slightest legitimate criticism of the show. Criticism is not always bad!!

I feel that Ron and Fez is, by far, the best, most original, funniest show out there and always has been. But that does not mean that I prefer everything on the show or feel that it cannot improve. Everyone has their different tastes and opinions.

I could stand to have less ESD (although he seems like a good guy), more "bits" (Fezatorials, Bad Guest, Iris, etc.), and more participation by Fez as opposed to Eastside Dave, especially on interviews when Fez is virtually silent (I say this because I love Fez).

I just hope that they get a better timeslot and keep going strong and creative.

Marcpsych

I love Ron and Fez now on XM. Listening to XM and then regular radio makes regular radio seem silly. A natural conversation has bad words in it and it messes up the flow when you compensate for it. Ron's ball bustin is hilarious when he gets on a roll and sometimes an N-Train or a F-Train might slip out.
first off, XM became infinitely better when they signed Ron and Fez. I was counting the days until XM signed them, I hadnt heard them since they left WNEW and 202 was really empty with only o&a.

I think they are just as good as they ever were. There are a lot of things that are different but I still find myself laughing on a daily basis.

That's exactly what crossed my mind, too!

I always hated Opie and Anthony when they were on WJFK, but I caught some of their show on XM, and I thought they sounded WAY better back then. Even though I never liked the show, I thought that some of the shows I heard in the WJFK days were considerably more enjoyable than their new XM rambling. They all sound like they don't have anything to say.

Sort of the same thing is going on with Ron and Fez now; except their show is still enjoyable, but much less than before. Ron sounds so tired to me, and Fez just doesn't seem to be having it. I don't know why they're still doing the show if they sound like they don't want to be.

Newbie Listener, courtesy of Ronfez.net's file library I've had a chance to hear some of the older stuff. Bennington just sounds on top of his game to me personally. I dunno, like I said, not as long a listener as most, but I'm looking forward to the show each day, and I cant really say that about any other.

In every other version of the show I caught it when I could. There
were times in each version that I laughed so hard I was brought to
tears, I laugh still just thinking about it. The XM show I almost never
miss a moment of, I laugh every day, and I think its still just the
beginning. There are bigger and better things to come. It might be as
good a three hours as I spend every day.

WJFK Ron & Fez was good but it was a let down from WNEW Ron & Fez. I think XM Ron & Fez is by far the best show.

Ron and Fez are radio diamonds - doing well in a bad situation. Lack of coverage, bad phnes, poor callers, The one thing that people criticise the most is what is keeps this show going,

The whole Ron and Fez crew are doing well during this period at XM.

Dave acts the idiot but that is entertaining, radio, Earl Douglas is producing some good stuff and Ron and Fez are keeping their heads up despite the situation that they are in.

Were Ron and Fez better Pre-XM? No, but they could be in a better place.

Didnt hear them pre-XM, but I gotta say I love them. I love the whole show the way its put together with all the characters dave, earl, and bronxJohnny. Everyone IMO fits together to make the show work. Earl kicks ass with his musical knowledge, dave plays the village idiot brilliantly, johnny is the gansta.. i love it.

Before I get flammed for being a noobie to this board, I was (innocently) in jail for the past few years, so was not able to post on any message boards... The first thing I did when I got out, (well... after that,) was get XM, for only 2 reasons: O&A and R&F!

While in Westchester County Jail the ONLY way I was able to maintain sanity was laughing my ass off days with O&A, and passing the night along with Ron and Fez.com. They kept me going and passed my time by REAL quick. When they left WNEW life began to stink...

One of the best R&F bits was the enema, when Anthony was HAMMERED and came and guest hosted the show. The punch lines where fucking heliourus!!!

I think both O&A and R&F were a bit better on their previous stations, but only because it was latter in the day, were a little more awake, had more booze in them, and had better callers.... Nothing like my fellow NYers to liven the mood up. But in no way am I planning on canceling my XM subscription.

(Shit I even watched the train wreck XFL pre-game show just cause 0&A were hosting in.)

"Back to you Rusty!"

One thing I don't miss is the inconvenience of AWFUL commercials ruining bits, and stupid news and commercial BS,interupted streaming audio...painful and bad quality sound.I tune out when they talk sports, like it's a stock report...not in that market.I guess I like the Radio Shark.

XM Ron and Fez is radio nirvana, my friend. No more Cameron Gray telling that they take too many calls. No more censorship. Oh and they have ESD....

...nothing?
