So, i need to get some plane tickets for the end of June and though i know a handful of sites, they all seem to be around the same price or more expensive than others. I've never booked a flight online or anything and i dont want to get ripped off.

Any frequent travelers here know some good places to check at specifically or tips of any kind, they'd be very much appreciated.

I use the travel sites to see which airlines are offering the best schedule, but will typically go directly to the airline's website.

Often the fares are as cheap or lower and they often offer some specials currently not seen by the travel sites. It also pays to join the free frequent flyer program. Wait a day and they'll probably send you a list of their most recent members only online sales.
