Anything played by the Grateful Dead or any member of the Dead.
Steve Winwood? I'm sure "Valerie" and "Back in the High Life Again" would be great to smoke to. I really like the 80's Steve Winwood though. That's when he really got cool. I'll sing both those songs at the top of my lungs when I hear them.

How about "Fearless" by Floyd?

I just realized how gay "Jack Johnson" sounds.

Doors "Peace Frog"

Doors "My Wild Love" (note: you & your gang really should be running through the woods at night screaming it for full effect)

Bob Marley "Natural Mystic"

Bob Marley "Three Little Birds"

Led Zeppelin "Friends" (if the devil hand wrote any rock song, this is it...)

Led Zeppelin "Hats Off (To Roy Harper)" (note: wear headphones to fully enjoy the ultra low-fi mix - jimmy page's inspired slide guitar in one ear, howling robert plant in the other)

Led Zeppelin "Bron Yr Aur Stomp" (one of the very few excellent songs about a boy & his dog suitable for stoned enjoyment -- see if you can clap along!)

Led Zeppelin "Immigrant Song" (not really... but I dig that the line "Hammer of the Gods" bugs Ron so much)

Talking Heads "Seen And Not Seen" (had to throw one in to appease my avatar -- really listen to Stop Making Sense front to back)

Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows" (remarkably ahead of its time... drone electronica type of a thing afterall and all in one chord -- and it proves that Ringo could come up with a deeply groovy drum line)

CSN&Y "Find The Cost Of Freedom" (not truly a feel good stoner tune but... jesus the simple guitar is beautiful & you feel the vocals in your chest -- turn it up)

Steve Martin "Grandmother's Song" (why wouldn't you?)

Jimi Hendrix "May This Be Love"

Velvet Underground "Run Run Run"

Velvet Underground "Ocean"

Jane's Addiction "Coming Down The Mountain" (sure it's contradictory but so is life, so there you go)

Brownie McGhee (and Sonny Terry & ??) "Raise A Ruckus Tonight" (from the excellent Brownie McGhee The Folkway Years 1945-1959") (good stoned road music -- as a passenger of course)

Reverend Horton Heat "Galaxy 500" (ditto)

Elvis Presley "Ruberneckin'" (I cannot explain this one, but it is true)

Simon & Garfunkel "A Simple Desultory Philipic" (questionable? dated? yes, but also yes)

If for some reason you're in the mood to be freaked out -- I suggest Peter Gabriel's Passion - Music From The Film The Last Temptation of Christ. Gorgeous, haunting and... yikes.

Oh shit, "best song", as in one song... umm, let's say Cher's "Believe" -- it's got like synthesized vocals. Trippy.

I know I should be the LAST person to post in this thread...but I always thought Hendix's Hey Joe would make a good pot smoking song. Mellow tune...good lyrics. Great song.
That's okay. I really have no business posting in this thread either, and I started it.
