Matty,
Dont go to Bermuda in the fall. the hurrican season lasts till November. Atleast that is what the travel agent told us when we went to book our honeymoon last week. We had our hearts set on it too. Now it will be Porta Varlta (sp?) from OCT 5th-11th.
The wedding is Sept 30th. Coming up fast.
Hawaii you need 10 days for. We thought about flying to San Fran and wine country for 2 days then Hawaii for 5 days then 2 days in my fav town next to NYC- VEGAS!! but i need to work.
Its not spending money we dont have if its a honeymoons. Also, my last few trips were saved for and paid before they were booked.

Our wedding will be in the late spring, so it's a good time for almost anywhere in the U.S.A or the tropics.

Forgive my future brother-in-law. The money and other neccessities for the honeymoon (frequent flyer miles, reward points, etc) are already set aside and ready to be used, so there's no real issue money wise.

Matty do the tour of celebs homes. David spade throws rocks at the bus from his roof and Jack Osbourne aims the sprinklers at it too.
Casey Kasem walk over to the bus and said hello to us. Someone (not me i swear) asked how he got a hot looking wife. he said "money." true story except for the not me part. heheehehehe.

Tenbats, have you ever been on a cruise? You should def try it once, but I did and didn'nt like it. The motion thing isn't a problem on any decent sized boat. But you can be stuck on the boat for days at a time, the rooms are almost always the size of closets, and no matter how much there is to do on the thing, I got bored within a few days. Oh, and you have about 5 bthings to choose from on the menu, none of which I'd ever order for myself if I had a choice.

Knowing you a little from this board, I'd guess you'd get stir crazy like I did. I went to Central America last March and it was a blast. The only plan we
had was: fly in to Panama, fly out of El Salvador 2 weeks later. We had a
little lonely planet guide and we spent the bulk of the time in Nicaragua and
Honduras. We never spent more than $15 a night on accomadations, and
many were really nice (some, particularly in Panama City and Tegucigalpa,
were kind of gross). If you're at all into doing a more adventurous thing, I'd
suggest it. We spent about a total of $1600 for both of us including airfare
for the two weeks, and we lived and ate like kings (central american beef
rocks).
For about 2-3x that price you could also do Costa Rica as an organized
"tour". It's what I just suggested to my friend who is looking for an
"adventurous" romantic getaway. She is the sort that in theory likes to do
"outdoors" and "adventurous" things but in reality is kind of a princess. The
"tour" is not a tour where you are in a group of people whom you stay with
and have a guide and all that; it's more of a very convenient, organized trip
where your itinerary is all laid out for you, your transport (by bus, car and
minivan) is arranged and a lot of activities are also already arranged. It
makes it really really easy - eg you get dropped off at your hotel, and you
have your little voucher for the ride to a hike up the active volcano, soak in
the hot springs and gourmet dinner all set up so you don't need to arrange
anything. We encountered loads of honeymooning couples. I have some
photos from that trip here http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/0903/

Sorry, I should have read the whole trhead before replying: Costa Rica is not
ultra cheap. It is just somewhat cheap. The rest of central america is ultra
cheap, Nicaragua perhaps marginally less so (it's starting to get super-duper
touristy the way Costa Rica is). If you go to Costa Rica, don't go to an all-
inclusive resort. The whole reason you'll want to go to Costa Rica is to see all
the different areas in one country - the Pacific and Atlantic coasts are
NOTHING like each other, just as neither is remotely like the cloud forest
around Monteverde or the spectacular active volcano of Arenal. If you go to
only one of these areas, you'll be missing out on a ton of stuff.

I was in Hawaii last December. Yes, lots of stuff to explore, but yes, quite
pricey. Also, not too adventurous - it is part of the US, after all.
I was in New Zealand last August and despite the fact that I only saw the
north island, I had a blast - I went climbing, fishing, saw glowworm caves,
etc - but it's kind of pricey and obviously getting there is really expensive
and takes a long time. My photos from climbing in hobbiton are here:http://

Just got engaged Saturday night. After we book a place and set a date, we are thinking October '07 at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, we will start to plan the honeymoon I guess. I am gong-ho on Hawaii. She thinks it is a cliche and doesn't want to do what every other couple does. I say F that, it is probably the only chance I'll ever have to go to Hawaii....who cares if its a cliche? She wants to go to Machu Pichu and spend our Honeymoon Hiking through the mountains and sleeping in tents. Don't get me wrong, that is something we have both always wanted to do and will definitely do some day. I just don't feel like it is a honeymoon type thing.

Some of the best food in the country is in San Francisco and the surrounding areas. Its not just wine country, they produce just about everything food wise in that area, from artisinal (I hate that word) cheeses to hierloom fruits and vegetables to you name it. And it's an unbelieveably beautiful scenic area. Drive up Rte 1, visit the local towns and San Fran. Its almost impossible to get a bad meal in San Francisco. That area of SoCal is probably the most physically beautiful in the US. The US version of Tuscanny in Italy.

There's a suggestion for you, TB. You dont even need a passport.

She wants to go to Machu Pichu and spend our Honeymoon Hiking through the mountains and sleeping in tents. Don't get me wrong, that is something we have both always wanted to do and will definitely do some day. I just don't feel like it is a honeymoon type thing.

Santa Rita is also really cool (Sideways territory). We were in LA last year and spent a day going to the vineyards around there. Then, like a tourist, we waited 2 hours for a table at the Hitching Post II (the restaurant from the movie). It was worth every minute the steak is unbelievable and their wine is great too. Good times...

What is romantic to one person is not necessarily romantic to another. When planning your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon it is important to choose a vacation destination and activities that you will enjoy. With its romantic hotels, delicious food and fabulous views, Italy is an ideal destination for a romantic honeymoon. After spending a few days exploring Venice, Florence and Rome, head to one of the hotels on the Italian coast where you can unwind next to a pool. Love and understanding gives us all the confidence to move into the future together.
