I normally don't post on message boards but I just signed up in order to publicly express my support for ESD. I find him absolutely hilarious and will be very disappointed if he is forced to leave. I enjoyed the show before ESD was hired on but enjoy it even more now that he is on.

Realistically I know my opinion counts for nothing and he'll probably get fired. I think Dave probably broke the rule about commiserating with interns or listeners. I could tell Ron was PO's for real today when he didn't even want to hash this out on the air. It would have made for great radio but Ron didn't even want to touch it. To Dave: Good luck bro'.

I know a lot of people don't so much like ESD, but I would hate to see him off the show. He gets into such stupid, hilarious shit, and I think it would be a detrement to the show have him fired. That being said, he deserved to be fired on the spot for reading Earl's emails. And if he was hanging out with interns outside of the show on top of that, he's gone.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that the show NEEDS Dave. I mean, we all laugh at his zany antics, logical thought and great bits...but does the show NEED him? No Way. I won't miss him. There's just TOO MUCH Dave on the radio. You can rationalize it all you want to as Fez still being sick, but still, that is no excuse to give Dave more airtime than Fez, which does happen, and far too often. Dave's schtick is tolerable in small doses, not in large quantities.

Fez was just not feeling well every day for the last few months,so that Dave took up some of the slack and yes gave Fez some slack and cut him some slack. So Dave was helping TEAM FEZ.
I have never posted here before, I am sad that my first post has to be about ESD.

I think the thing I never understood was why Dave didn't take his job more seriously. I mean there are tons of people with his degree that would kill to have the job he has/ or had. Getting drunk on the job during an event he was supposed to be producing is unacceptable. Needing listeners to get you home after a night of binge drinking is so uncool.

I also feel bad that it seems like he doesn't have friends of his own. I mean he shouldn't have to have listeners or interns involved in his life outside of work. The fact that he makes drunken phone calls to all of his coworkers because he is lonely or bored is kinda sad.

I do love the show though. Ron and Fez are amazing. They make me laugh more then any radio show has. I look forward to the show everyday and to be honest Earl sets the tone for my day with his music choices.

Hydee, what i think you don't know about Dave is, he basically is a listener. He used to come to events just like other listeners, and most of those people ARE his friends. He was pretty much just doing what he always has, he just never had the responsibility of being a show employee before

I hate to say it but you people who really give dave a hard time really need to give it a rest, and take Dave for what he is, a funny idiot. As stupid as he is and as much as you want to hate him, he really is a funny guy. I dont know how many of you remember the early O&A WNEW days but they had an intern that reminds me very much of Dave, just an idiot but some how came up with great funny radio.

All during todays show even thought it was Dave Free thursday, I was waiting for a stupid dave comment, even Ronnie said it when they were talking about westerns because dave would of had some stupid comment that would have taken them on a tangent that ended up in Ron busting on him.

Ok for all of you who hate when Dave brings in the puppets, think about how funny he was when he would join Paul-O for his movie reviews, and just it would be a tag-team on ripping on Paul-O.

SAVE ESD!!!

Not associating with the interns is a stupid rule? It's not associating that he was banned from doing, it was going out, getting completely smashed and making a complete ass out of himself in front of interns who he is supposed to have authority over. Not only this but I got the impression that he showed some pretty obnoxious behavior at a restaurant that is kind of friendly to the show and made it clear to everyone there that he was a part of the show. Very bad representation of the show to both the interns and the restaurant. Showed a complete lack of responsibility. Idiotic behavior for someone who turned his life around for the dream of working on the R&F Show. I don't pretend for a second that I know exactly what went on but I listen everyday and that was my interpretation, what do I know, I'm drunk.
Ron is a genius at what he does. You have to know that and trust his decision, even with limited information. It's like having a misbehaving teen going thru puberty learning to drink and drive at the same time who puts a nice dent in the front fender and wets himself on the front seat. It's not a pleasant job being a parent. It's not fun when you have to pull rank and correct the abuses. It's like Fez isn't going to FREAK OUT (and why should he threaten his fragile health by beating Dave with his bamboo cane like an old lady accosted for her pocket-book?) It's destructive behavior like Fat Baby back in DC...Does that MEAN Perry has to WRITE a song for ANYTHING to get done? ****************Watch what happens with LOOSE CHANGE,the 911 documentary***************

I like Dave; he is a good person. However, it is never a good idea to read another person's mail under any circumstance! It doesn't matter if his intentions were sincere and good; it is still a gross invasion of privacy. Not to mention printing out the email, which was really nervey of him. I don't even like anyone picking up my newspaper, let alone my mail, without my approval

I am not sure what the exact thing was that he did to get into trouble, and it's too bad. He had an awesome opportunity that any other person would kill to have, and he made a mistake and hurt that chance. But there are privacy issues, and deffinitely goes against company policy to invade another employee's space the way he did, and of course, the trust factor is lost in the process. I hope he learns his lesson during his suspension and I hope he gets another chance to change any behavior not appropriate to the work environment

I say, give Dave another chance.

Listen to O&A and every day they talk about how their glorified interns (ahem, Associate Producers) Than, Danny, Travis, etc. go into each other's email acounts (when left on) and send out letters representing themselves as that person. I'm not saying that Earl and Ron shouldn't be pissed - they should - but why the fuck is it a big joke on O&A but all of the sudden when Dave does it, it's a huge "corporate problem." If Wiki was pissed about Dave, why doesn't he say shit about it in the other case? I don't see a huge difference other than that Earl isn't spineless and stood up for himself.

As to Dave's suspension, I think he's great for the show but has made some (actually quite a few recently) mistakes but I hope that he'll learn a lesson and come back from his suspension. I haven't heard R&F sound as good since they the NEW show was syndicated to overnights in DC. Dave is an integral part of that and I hope he's not out for good.

WHat seems to be missed in most of the conversations about our friend Dave is that people who are not voicing support for him aren't usually doing so because he has no talent or sense of comedy, it's more that he has the job of a lifetime and is blowing it up. If I was supporting Dave I would feel betrayed at this point as he has let his fans down, the listeners down, and most of all his own self down.

Dave is one of the most obvious alcoholics I have ever seen. He needs to get help with this and try to get his life back on track. I thought getting the gig would help Dave focus himself a little more and prioritize his life in a meaningful way. Instead the opposite has happened, Dave took his good fortune and used it as an excuse to get wasted even more.

I sincerely hope Dave can get his life back together and more importantly quit detracting from the show, if not then Ron and Fez should taker a long hard look at replacing Dave with a more qualified person. I got XM radio strictly for ROn and Fez. I currently hold down three subs, and I am thinking about getting more. However if ESD is part of the long term plan of this show I am not sure if made the right choice. Dave, who only has a few bright spots, is reducing the quality of the show and taking away from it's energy. I can't help but think there will be some dark ending to the ESD saga.

It's pretty simple, like flat top.Dave, like a puppy shit on the carpet, and Ron has to rub his nose in it with rolled up newspaper over the snout to train him not to "repeat performance". It's avoidance training. There's carpet wetness, now here's the cure....or at least the short term remedy.Mo satisfaction, less shit traction.

Does this mean we can start calling ESD "The Orange-headed Ball of Failure"?

Didn't anyone catch what Ron said on Friday? He said what ESD did, he just didn't say who he did it to. Seems East Side used the caller ID as the phone screener to get someone's phone number. I guess that's bad enough, but then this strange "Harassment" angle comes in.

I can't imagine Dave would be so stupid as to get drunk and call back a caller who was fucking with him on the show and harass them. Isn't that one of the first rules of radio?

My guess is he got a personal number he should not have access to of either a 'friend of the show' or a guest and called them and when the person asked how he got the number and he said the station caller ID, they reported it to Earl and Ron.

If that's true, it's pretty bad and grounds for being fired, I think. Reading and printing out Earl's e-mail was already grounds for it. If that was anyone else who worked there, besides Earl, be it with the R&F show or O&A he would have been fired already a la Harry for invasion of privacy, but Earl's just a really nice guy.

I get what Dave brings to the show, but I think some of you guys overvalue his contribution because most of us draw an immediate comparison between Dave and Harry and in that race, there's no contest; Dave wins hands down.

But if he ends up getting fired, I'm sure they could find a lot of people to fill that role. I also think Bill the Intern would be a good choice, because he's got a decent track record of producing bits.

from the little i heard on the show there has to be some 'guidelines' and rules just like at any place of business and if dave was harrassing a 'caller' then he's got to pay for his actions. one thing that i respect about dave is he speaks his mind whereas Earl needs to get a set of his own balls. it's at times disgraceful the way he bows down or breaks under some 'invisible' pressure of answering a question that ron throws him...

They said something about him still being up for review but I think he was there. Sounds like this really is a serious matter and may be out of Ron and Fez's hands at this point. He may get shit canned even if they end up wanting to keep him.

i dont wanna be a ned negative.... no, wait , I DO!!!!.....dave cured me of the ron & fez virus in just 2 quick weeks of being on the show, just recently i've peeked in - to see if i could stand the bordeom of E.S.D.......... much to my pleasant surprise. that boring knob of a distraction was not present!! i'm so happy - for the moment - while he's not around , that i'm gonna listen a" little bit" more often, BUT, if he comes back - i'm out quicker than, than, thaaaaan.... some fag at a big fag event, or some shit... I don't think anyone gets it. It really isn't anybody's business what Dave did or if he does or doesn't get fired. However, to say that Dave should keep his job is ridiculous. If he harassed a caller that gave him a hard time we all know he has to go. Every single one of you on this message board knows if you called a customer or patient or whatever that you did not like you'd be fired. You can't deny that. I have no problem with Dave at all honestly. I'm indifferent to him. Sometimes he's terrible sometimes he's great. To say nobody jumps down Earl's throat for being boring is irrelevant. He's not threatening people and then calling the police on Mikey D for pretty much doing the exact same thing. Except maybe Mikey D was a little more manly about it and went to Dave's house in person. Both incidents are ridiculous and immature. Which reminds me. Didn't Dave say that him calling Mikey D a Nazi was a bit? Didn't he get into with Bronx Johnny like two weeks ago about something and told him not to get upset because it was a bit? So why would he get upset about a caller? I don't want Dave or anyone else to lose their job but use common sense. Does he get a free pass for everything?

If dave was making phone calls, harrassing someone, that's a pretty big deal. That can be considered aggravated harassment. Anyway, i'm rooting for dave, because he's the only funny sidekick they have.
