Wow.. Its awesome that someone points it out, and hopefully places that do that kind of thing start to actually make their workers do what they are being paid for. I have a feeling that it is more likely the workers who say they are making the repair are just bullshitting their boss, rather than a company conspiracy. A top notch mechanic wouldnt work at jiffy lube.

Fuck! I was just at Jiffy Lube a wk ago, but only for an oil change. Hopefully this shit is only going on in CA. The manager was telling me that when I bring my truck back in Aug to have an engine flush. I don't think so! LOL

I stopped going to Jiffy Lube years ago. I had various problems almost every time I went, and they charge way too much for what they do.

still change my own oil except when it's in for service at a trusted mechanic and it's due...

somewhat funny story:

i changed my oil approx a year ago and after as i was putting the new filter on i noticed an orange rubber ring. i even rubbed the ring with my finger and thought "never saw something like that before" i then put on my new filter, filled oil, and figured i was good.

an hour so or later i ran my daughter to her friends house about 2 miles away. as i'm returning home the oil light comes on. i'm like WTF? i get home and there is oil all over the bottom of the car and i cleaned under there after i just changed the oil.

next i get a call from my daughter's friends mother. turns out when i pulled in her driveway i dropped almost all five quarts in her driveway. she wasn't upset or at least she said she wasn't, "just concerned".

what do you know that orange ring was the gasket from the previous filter and the new filter never made a good seal, i've been changing my own oil for 27 years and that has never happened to me...

luckily i wasn't on a long trip or i would have been fucked...
