Has anyone brought their pet with them on vacation? Where did you go? Where did you stay? Especially if it's a road trip.
Yes I have.....I have taken my Beagle, Annie, on many a road trip...usually down South where pets welcome in almost all motels and hotels!!!!.....but then again....Annie usually pays her own way and sometimes picks up my bar tab....so she's always welcome to ride with me!!!!!

I've got a 60lb Chow Mix and usually have to stay in your crappier motels if I want to bring him. Which means Red Roof, Motel Six, Comfort Inn and shit like that. So, he usually only goes with me if I'm doing a weekend trip. Petswelcome.com has a nationwide list of hotel/motels that take pets. Just make sure you check with the individual place (Except RR and M6 they all take 'em) and beware of the non-refundable pet fee. I used to take mutley with me to Mohegan Sun. We'd stay at the best western Hilltop...then the bastards changed their policy to no pets.

i'd love to take my cats along with me on vaca, but bringing all four is just unrealistic. if i go away for a weekend, i leave them home with plenty of food and water. last time i went away for a week they got to stay at Granny's house.

Is it even possible to travel with a cat? The only time mine has been in the car is to go to and from the vet, and she freaks out in her cage.

I've thought of bringing her with me when I visit my parents in VT, but I can't imagine her putting up with a 6 hour car ride.

My cat loves car rides. I put his carrier up high enough that he can look out
the window. He'd just sit on top but sometimes he'll go flying if I have to
stop short or whatever so I just leave him inside. Besides, that way he can't
run away if I get into an accident.
My dog has been with me all over the country. I never had a problem finding
a place to spend the night with her along, although sometimes I'd have to
check a couple of places before I'd find one that would take a 55lb dog. In
addition to the motels already listed, I found that Howard Johnsons and
Holiday Inn were pretty reliabley pet friendly. Just be aware that obviously
you will not be able to leave the dog unattended in the hotel room. When
we stopped in CO so I could do a bit of fishing, I put Stella in a kennel across
the street from where I was stayingh for 2 days while I was there.

We adopted an ex-racing greyhound. He raced in Iowa, Massachusetts, and Florida. He loves to hop in the back of the Tahoe and go for a ride with the windows down!

Good for you adopting the greyhound, the way those animals are treated is despicable. My friend adopted one and it's hard to even get him just to lay down, they just don't know what it is to be a dog because of the way they are treated.

I own my own business and my dog comes with me everyday. People think its odd and employees have to adjust, but there's nothing quite as cool as seeing him looking out from under a desk... Ahh it's good to be King
