I was solicited for a job interview by a company last week. I was kind of taken aback by the position, (headhunter) as I had NO experience in the arena of the position, but it seemed like an interesting challenge, and it paid handsomely. I didn't apply for this job, or even know this company existed.

I had a phone interview with a stand-offish English woman, who was very curious about my work history and (red flag) salary history.

She also asked me a couple of questions that made me feel like they didn't know that they had solicited me for an interview, rather than vice versa. "What made you interested in Company X" was one of those questions.

Of course, I got a rejection letter today.

I'm debating writing a curt yet polite email back, questioning her if that if the company reached out to me first, why the hell they even interviewed me and asked me personal questions about my salary history, and then tell me that my background didn't fit the position. OF COURSE IT DIDN'T FIT THE POSITION, I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN HUMAN RESOURCES!!!

I have a feeling that they were fishing around for my salary history as a negotiation tactic.

Should I write the email or let it slide?

I wouldn't. It's not a good idea to burn bridges in the work force. You never know who you're going to meet up with in future job interviews.

I would let it slide. Head hunters are almost as bad as used car
salesman. I have never had a positive experience with one, and I
have never been hired for a job that they came to me with. I once
got a job through one, but I responded to an ad on their website.
When it came time to sign everything and fill out the paper work they
'accidentally' put the wrong wage down. They are scum bags.

All right, a new story.

I applied for a job that falls really well within my job skill set earlier this month.

I was immediately emailed back by human resources, and we set up an appointment.

I was told by HR to expect a 35-45 minute phone interview.

I was called, and whoever interviewed me was either an absolute beginner or had no idea what he was doing. This "45 minute interview" took no longer than 5-10 minutes. I even followed up with a phone call the next week, to which I got no response.

I kind of disregarded the job, considering the unprofessional way I was interviewed, but I see the opening was re-posted again.

I'm debating - once again - whether to write them a letter and pretty much ask - point blank - WTF?

Companies are so fucking disorganized these days. You can't have blown the interview in five or ten minutes! Then again,...

just kidding.

It sounds like you wanted the position so go for it. Write a letter. Better yet, give them another call and hack around the phone system a bit. If the person's extension was, say, 555-8965, try a few numbers up and down 555-8966, 8967, 8968 etc. until you get a human. I hate douches who hide behind voice mail. Then ask, what the fuck dudes?!?

at least they gave you respect with even SENDING you a letter~even though the situation was kind of weird

I went on an interview, thought it went fabulous, the guy passed me a salary on a post it, and told me he had to talk to his partner to set up a second interview.

well 2 weeks went by- no call, no letter, nothing

so i talked to a few people adn they told me to call- i tried to call a few times always getting the run around! that is not professionalism!

I always ask when I can expect to hear back. If I don't hear back a couple of days after that I check in. Here, since you didn't have a date to hear back from them I would assume enough time has passed and check in. I wouldn't send the letter you wer contemplating in the original post. It sounds weird but you never know who talks. Good luck.

I was called, and whoever interviewed me was either an absolute beginner or had no idea what he was doing. This "45 minute interview" took no longer than 5-10 minutes. I even followed up with a phone call the next week, to which I got no response.

...and they say I'm miss the point guy...
