Holy shit is really all I can say. I'd heard absolutely nothing about this until about 5 minutes ago. Okay, so the premise&nbsp;seems a little weak, the sunis dying and a mission is sent to space to drop a bomb into it to get the old fusion going again, but seriously, after <em>Shallow Grave</em>, <em>Trainspotting</em>, <em>28 Days Later</em>, <em>Millions</em>, even <em>The Beach</em> was pretty good, he's built himself some a serious surplus of credibility. If I heard he had filmed 2 hours of watching paint dry I would buy a ticket. Now go <a href="http://www.sunshinedna.com/videos/8" target="_blank">here</a>, watch this clip and tell me I'm wrong. I haven't been this excited about a film in a while. I got the same flubbly gut feeling that I'm gonna&nbsp;get when <em>Inglorious Bastards</em> finally, really&nbsp;gets under way.

It does look promising... but it is in post-production and it won't be out until next year.&nbsp; I'm sure I'll be reminded of it sometime around x-mas.

If the sun dies, it'll leave us all "breathless."

Totally psyched for this movie!

Here's a great article about it: 2007: a scorching new space odyssey (http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,,2042102,00.html)

Comes out today in limited release.

It's in 3 theaters in NYC (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/41850895/sunshine.html). With the lastest showings around 1:30pm all week! What the hell is that all about?

The core is arguably the most unrealistic movie even made.

just got back from seeing it tonight. i loved it, thought it was really cool. there are a few weird parts but that is fully expected in a sci-fi movie like this. the effects are amazing. it looks sweet on the big screen so i highly recommend seeing it in the theaters. i don't want to give anything away cause it seems there are other people who were looking forward to seeing it.

anyone else see it yet? thoughts?

I thought it was an excellent movie right up until the end. I had problems with:

the man, (or did he turn into somekind of creature?), from the other ship.

Did being exposed to the sun that close for seven years change his DNA? I think they elluded to that could happen but it was never really established what happened to the guy or even how he survived for 7 years. I just wish they only explained that.

But other than that, it was a great sci-fi flick.

i was really thrown off by that too. i took it as him being alone for seven years that close to the sun just drove him insane. saying how god spoke to him and all. being that close to the sun burned off most of his skin and what not. he still would have had oxygen because the plant room thing was still operational. im not sure what he would have done for food for that long though.
