heard about this the other day and thought it was a joke but it's on imdb.com so i guess it's true

according to imdb it's more of a re imagining than a remake but it centers on the time prior to the original 1978 version and up to and including that time

also in the trivia section it says that prior to rob zombie;s version they were thinking of a duel between myers and pinhead from hellraiser a la the freddy vs jason movie

hopefully zombie can make this worthwhile instead of the crappy last few halloween movies we had to deal with, especially the reality tv one with busta rhymes

http://imdb.com/title/tt0373883/

In terms of the studio system..........yeah it was a great idea.
It all comes down to the bottom line and not artistic integrity.
Why do you think Lindsey Lohan has a career? FREDDY -VS- JASON
made a TON of cake.

Having Zombie film this would probably be the only way to make me go and see this flick.

Devil's Rejects was a solid movie, with a TERRIFIC ending. Zombie's really progressing as a filmmaker, so I'd be interested in seeing what he comes up with. I would hope that it'd be legitimate, rather than just follow the standard hack "oversexed teenagers run afoul of serial killer / monster and are slowly picked off one by one" formula.

Rob Zombie is great, and he did do an animated movie, El Superbeasto (http://imdb.com/title/tt0419724//), that is set to be released in May!

Is it wrong that I want to see Werewolf Women of the SS turned into a real movie?

We need a real werewolf movie. None of this American Werewolf in Paris/Underworld/Cursed shit.

I have mixed-feelings about this because John Carpenter's Halloween is a freaking classic. I still have the image of the camera being behind the mask as 6 year old Mike Myers stabs the crap out of his sister. Besides, there is no way is HELL you can recast someone other than Donald Pleasence as Dr Loomis.(yes I know he's dead and can't be in this movie).

My best Halloween memory is being 7 or 8 and walking out of my room late one night to use the bathroom and saw the ending of Halloween or Halloween II on NBC and was so freaked, I was wetting the bed for a week!

I like Rob Zombie as a rocker. Saw and didn't care for Land of 1000 Corpses or whatever. Thought it was done for just shock and gross out value with the family of trailer trash criminally insane inbreeds and had no story. Didn't see Devil's Rejects.

The Halloween I want to see(if someone is going to remake it or do thier own version of the movie) would be one that gets into the psychology of why a 6 year old kills his sister..besides the he's a souless and mindless monster(which is what I think Zombie is giving us based on the trailer)

But I will go see this!

I also heard someone is re-making Friday the 13th(another classic movie) and I've heard about the prequel to Nightmare on Elm Street ever since Freddy VS Jason came out.

I'm not a big Rob Zombie fan, but the bar on the Halloween franchise has been lowered to the point that the trailer alone is the third best part of the series.

Damn, that looked good. Was a bit worried that in the beginning it looked grainy like his other movies did. Malcolm McDowell looks like he will make a great Dr. Loomis. Not so sure how I feel about Michael Myers, especially his eyes. This one was looking around like he's conscious of his surrounding and is thinking. The original is just void of any emotion or expression.

I trust Mr Zombie with this movie. He defnitely knows his horror. I don't know if the "Werewolf Women of the SS" commercial was written by him or his idea, but if it is then he really knows his horror subgenres. Plus "Devil's Rejects" was a very good movie.

The trailer says "...and reinvents a legend."

How about INVENTING a legend?

It's been done.

TYLER MANE AS MICHEAL MEYERS

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r65/andyinjersey/michaelzp4.jpg

I was thinking, where I have heard that name before. O ya, He is the wrestler Big Sky and played Sabertooth in X-men.

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r65/andyinjersey/halloweenbehind1.jpg

a kid named Daeg Faerch is Micheal Meyers as a boy. Think they are making him 10 instead of 6 in the movie. He looks creepy as hell. His IMDB says he began writing screenplays at 8 and directing at 9. Thats kinda cool.

I always knew Meyers wore Converse sneakers.

now I just wish this movie was coming out on Halloween as opposed to Aug.

Rob Zombie is such a fucking douche.
Mr. "I Hate Sequels" has a sequel coming out to his shitty Halloween remake.

He writes and directs two awesome movies (House of 1000 Corpses, Devils Rejects) and makes a terrible remake, and now a remake to a sequel.
Fuck him

He's gotta have that RECHID fuck of an actress Sheri Moon in every movie. ANd WTF is with the whole "kill her michael" jason vorhees's mother rip-off shit in the trailer?

I'm a massive halloween fan, the first one was meh but this trailer gets me ever more pissed off. I hear he may talk and it has been confirmed he only wears the mask in 20% of the movie.

Hate horror films. I've never once felt "scared" while watching a movie but, I love Rob Zombie's movies.
Everything is dirty, gritty, gross, and REAL.

The peeled paint, the water damage on the ceilings, the shit stains in their underwear, ....everything. Rob Zombie sets a fuckin' seeeriously eerie tone with everything he does.

That's like his gimmick now, though.

Make things dirty, make the food look gross, have some guy act like a retarded strongman, and throw a rape in to shock people.

It's all shock value nonsense.
Like I said, LOVED HO1000C, kinda dug Rejects, but Halloween was old hat.

I liked his first Halloween too, but the preview for this one is sort of iffy.

On an aside, I think about 90% of the hate Rob Zombie movies get is simply because he's Rob Zombie. If the director was someone nobody had ever heard of, I'm sure most people would go a little easier on the films.

I thought the original Halloween was much better than Zombie's version. I was expecting much more. Now he's making a remake of the sequel. Big mistake.

He's not remaking Halloween 2. This is a sequel to his version of Halloween. For better or worse, this should be a lot different.

how is he Mr. "I Hate Sequels"?, half the movies hes ever made he made a sequel to

Who cares if said he'd never make a sequel? I mean, really.
Lots of people say "I'll never get married".... and then they do.
Or, "I don't want kids".... and then they have one (or more).
Or whatever.
People's situations change all the time.

His situation changed. Big deal.
It's Hollywood... and there are always other factors at work. (IE: there's another movie he wants to make, but the studio won't greenlight that budget until he's grossed a certain amount at the box... so... doing H2 is a means to get the funding for a more personal project... etc etc)
OR maybe he did just genuinely wanted to take the money and run. I see nothing wrong with that either.

WTF difference does it make that he once said "I don't see myself ever doing a sequel"? Doesn't automatically mean the movie is gonna suck.

GreatAmericanZero
05-26-2009, 01:57 PM
i just want to know when he said he would never make sequels because

his first movie was "house of 1,000 corpses" and his next movie was its sequel "the devil's rejects"

then he made "Halloween" and his next movie was "Halloween 2"

he has a 100% record of making sequels

I'd like to point out that HO1000C was Rob Zombies best work. He established himself, his tone and style, he defined the new horror. Then there was the second half of HO1000C where he steered the plane into the mountain. Everything since has been an attempt to recapture the gritty reality of the beginning of HO1000C. Devils Rejects went too far, Halloween went farther.
He's still interesting to watch and I'll stream H2 once its out - but it looks like his last chance.

Now that the sequel is in the works, it's tougher to find the article I read where he completely shoots down making a sequel.

I did find this.

Rob recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly, and told them he has higher aspirations. He says, “I'm not going to do any more Halloween movies, or any more remakes of any kind. I signed up for two more pictures, but not two more Halloween pictures.”
So the fact that it is a sequel doesn't necessarily bother me.
It's the fact that he has two projects that he wrote and is set to direct, and he decides to take the easy way out.

maybe he has to direct "halloween 2" to get another hit under his belt before the studio lets him make his own movies? the "halloween" sequel will make money and then he will have a successful franchise and can be given money to do his own weird creative stuff

kinda like Steven Soderbergh with those ocean 11 movies
