10pm tonight on SPIKE.

Anyone hear any reviews or plan to watch this tonight?

I'll check it out. I don't know much about who is taking over the Blade character, Kirk "Sticky" Jones (might be the worst rapper nickname ever), but I was a fan of the first Blade movie. Loved the second! The third? ehhhh... could have been better. I'm hoping this one goes the route of Blade working alone again, although I'm sure there has to be some kind of sidekick or apprentance.

I'll probably check it out since I loved the movies (even Trinity since I think Jessica Biel is a babe).

In all the previews, I didn't see anyone that would resembler Whistler (the old man, not his babe daughter). I hope he is in it since he was a major character.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't follow anything (comics or movies) and just has it's own story.

Blade tv show is it's own continuity. And there is a new person playing a Whistler type character, but I think he has a different name.

The Blade movies are pretty bland and don't bare well on rewatching (the first one is long and boring with the exception of the fight scenes), but I may give tonight's a chance.

I saw one review for tonite's show and it wasn't a favorable one.

Overall, it was pretty good. The TV budgets vs the Hollywood budgets are clearly seen when it come to the quality of the fight scenes, but it was okay nonetheless.

I like how they at least acknowledged Whistler instead of just ignoring he ever existed. I'm curious as to what part Randy Quaid will be playing in this series.

Wasn't really digging how hard a time Blade was having against the lesser vampires. He should be kicking their asses without suffering any damage at all, but he seemed weaker than them in these fights and had to rely on those gadgets to win.

That Krista chick is pretty hot. She looks a lot like Shannon Elizabeth to me. Nice slow-mo tit bounce when she was leaving the art gallery.

I'll definitely be watching more of this as it was a decent premiere.

Everything fucking sucked about the character. The origin story, the costume (especially the costume), his stupid vehicles, his motivations.

For those of you unfamiliar:

that's the fucking mask...have you ever seen anything more idiotic...does that look like something that would strike fear into the heart of criminals everywhere? jesus fucking christ.

Even the fucking title is retarded. An acronym? WHY? Who the fuck cares? And who the hell models his superhero identity around an insect so weak and pathetic they had to make laws to make it illegal to kill them. When's the last time you saw a praying mantis and thought, "holy shit, a praying mantis, id better get out of here before it gets me"?

It was a Sam Raimi project, which is even more perplexing.

And all black superheroes, barring Snipes in the movie role, suck a big cock. See Kazam, Steel, Mace Windu and Spawn.

Also, the fucking costume was HORRIBLE. Yes it gave him enhanced strength and reflexes, but it was constantly breaking down, and with the main character being a parapelegic, when the costume failed, he would collapse like a house of cards in a swift breeze. It was so embarassing.

You don't want your goddamn superheros to be fucking pussies. Mantis was a pussy.

From wikipedia:

M.A.N.T.I.S. was a TV series that aired for one season. The original two-hour TV pilot was produced by Sam Raimi, and developed by Sam Hamm, it starred actor Carl Lumbly as M.A.N.T.I.S.

Lumbly's character, Dr. Miles Hawkins, was a rich, mild-mannered doctor who was shot in the spine by a criminal leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Using his company's resources, he invents an exoskeleton suit that not only enables him to walk, but gives him superhuman abilities. He utilizes a vast array of technology, including a large underwater lab and a hovercraft called the Crysalid to fly around the city. With his newfound power, he vows to fight crime and assumes the hidden vigilante identity of "M.A.N.T.I.S." (Mechanically Automated NeuroTrasmitter Interactive System).

The show was later extensively retooled as an ongoing series on FOX, the first bulk of the first season featured an ongoing, and unfolding arc of the Mantis operating in a vigilante role, frequently pursued by police, and battling industrialist Solomon Box. However, a major retooling of the series suddenly reverted the series to a more generic action-adventure comic series, almost a parody of itself compared to the excellent and intriguing earlier instalments.

Hawkins essentially just became another superhero battling invisible men, and in the series' final, almost offensivly ludicrous instalment (never aired in the US,

I liked it and I think I'll tune in for a couple more episodes to see where it goes. As for the above mentioned Krista - that is the girl in the Mercury commercials... looks like she toughend up for the show. I also like how they will probably indroduce Warewolves as well. How Underworld of them.

So, is anyone still watching this? I'm glad I did because it has gotten pretty good. Not as good as the movies mind you, but good for a TV series. Plus, seeing Chase's ass in the latest episode was really nice. Girl's got some booty!

Anyway, I have a question for Blade fans. More specifically something from one of the movies. In the 3rd one, Blade: Trinity, when Blade first meets Abigail and Hannibal, he says something like "What makes you think you can kill vampires" to which Hannibal (Ryan Reynolds) says "Well, for starters, I used to be one." My question is this, how the hell did he used to be a vampire. Since when is there a cure to change someone back?

They mentioned the vampire cure in the third movie but, it goes by so fast! It's retarded. He says it in such a dismissive manner...as if it's not important! That always bugged me.

Hannibal expains that he "picked up Parker Posey (Danica?) in a bar, she bit him, then he spent 5 years being her vampire cabana boy, then Abigal found him...Summerfield (the blind girl) whipped up a cure..and now he hunts them"

Chip chop. Next please. Bobs yer uncle.

I was amazed when he said that! THERE'S A CURE?! AND NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE?? That was always a big flaw in the third movie for me. Especially when you consider that, unless Hannibal was cured a week ago, Abi had the cure for Vampirism for a whole and never shared it with her father -Whistler. Or the other "sleeper cells".

That whole part of the plot requires a giant leap in logic.
