TALLADEGA NIGHTS

The trailer looks pretty funny. I particularly like when he thinks he's on fire, and prays to Tom Cruise to use his Voodoo magic, to save him.

I'm officially getting scared and spooked at this whole Scientology conspiracy. I've been seeing the ad for this movie for over a month now. Originally he's running around screaming "Help me Jesus. Help me Jewish God. Help me Tom Cruise." A couple of weeks ago they dropped the "Jewish God" line out of the commercial. That's OK, I guess. Probably didn't want to offend the more sensitive t.v. viewers, but I assumed they left the line in the actual film. I just saw the commercial again, and now they've dropped the Tom Cruise reference and replaced him with Oprah. Anyone else catch this?

i did notice that when the trailer first came out , you heard the whole tom cruise part, help me tom cruise use your voodoo magic or whatever that line was, then it got chopped to just help me tom cruise, havent heard or seen the oprah line yet

The trailer that they have shown on TV has never had the complete version that was on the theatre trailer. I think it's just an issue of them not wanting to offend anyone in the TV audience. If I remember correctly, both Tom Cruise AND Oprah, were in the theatrical trailer. I'm sure both will also be in the movie. TV trailers never come close to showing what is in the actual movie.

The "Tom Cruise" line probably has more to do with the fact that he was in "Days of Thunder", rather than a scientology link.

That's the line that they've been using on the TV trailers, but the trailer they had, when I first posted this thread included the whole thing. I'm sure the whole thing will be in the actual movie. As we've all seen in the past, the TV trailers are never very accurate to the actual film. The unedited scene is pretty damn funny. I hope they keep it.

*edit* I just checked the link again. There are several trailers to choose from. If you click on the one that says "Theatrical Trailer" you get the whole thing. No Oprah, but he says help me Tom Cruise. Use your witchcraft.

I thought the Tom Cruise line had to do with Days of Thunder. This movie does look hilarious.

[color=navy]I just watched the original trailer, adn the exact line is as follows:

"HELP ME JESUS!!!!! HELP ME JEWISH GOD!!!!! HELP ME TOM CRUISE!!!!!! TOM CRUISE USE YOUR WITCHCRAFT TO TAKE THIS FIRE OFF OF ME!!!!!!"

But don't take my word for it. In that clip, however, there is no mention of Oprah. Yet, I swear to the little baby Jesus that I saw a commercial on t.v. where Tom Cruise was replaced by Oprah.

At the very least the Thetans have managed to use their influence in Hollywood circles to create another version of the ad. I am so enthralled by this little puzzle that I will need to see this movie as soon as it comes out just to see which line finally makes it into the movie.

That "help me Tom Cruise" line just isn't funny. It just doesn't hit me right.

I feel the same way about the "YAAAAA, KELLY CLARKSON!" line from 40 Yr. Old Virgin.
I can't remember where i read or heard it but the yelling during the waxing scene in 40 Year Old Virgin where mostly impromptu and unscripted. That's why the actors in the back are laughing so hard, im fairly certain the entire thing was very loosely scripted just to get the best laughs.

That being said the Kelly Clarkson line wasn't funny either way and this Nights movie looks awful.

the kelly clarkson line was funny but had no relevance to the movie or any sub relevance of any kind

the tom cruise line is funny b'c

1. he did a movie about nascar

2. he is famous / almost the figurehead of a religion which falls in line with the rest of the quote

It's a Scientology reference and the movie looks mildly amusing. Maybe catch it on HBO.

I'm a NASCAR fan, so I'll watch it. I loved Anchorman... ambivalent on 40 Year Old Virgin.

Remember, a lot of the more funny stuff in Anchorman WASN'T seen in the commercials... sex panther... punch you in the uterus... the melee scene... etc.

BTW, if you're wondering why he thinks he's on fire, some racing fuels cause "invisible" fire...

I saw it this afternoon. Ehh. It wasn't bad, I guess. Definitely no Anchorman. There definitely wasn't any ROTFLMAO moments. Unlike Anchorman, all the best gags were given away in the trailer.

I only thought Anchorman was okay. The only scene I really laughed hard at was the whole battle and its aftermath. The rest of it felt like an extended Simpsons episode or something. And Will Ferrell just can't do it on his own for me.

Zoolander on the other hand is hysterical. Guess I'm just a bigger Stiller fan.

I'm in the Anchorman isn't funny group. I tell this to people and they tell me I have to watch it a few times to really enjoy it, but I tell them it sucked the first time, why would I torture myself by watching it again?

I'm definitely one of those people that think every single line of dialog in Anchorman is a treasure. I love the absurdity, the delivery, the pauses...everything.

When I saw it in the theater, NOBODY was laughing. I was like "what is wrong with everyone here but me?!'

Then I analyzed that statement and realized, I've officially become my grandpa.

Whoa.

I finally got to see Talladega Nights last night, I loved it. There's a lot of sillyness to it, but also a lot of very funny things in it as well. Will Ferrell really makes this movie more than anything else. Sascha Cohen is very funny as well...there's a scene towards the end where he is running for his life and he looks exactly like Borat which was funny in itself. As a fan of NASCAR I've been wanting to see this for a while now and it did not disappoint. Hakuna Matata Bitches!!!

just saw it over the weekend and it had some funny parts but wasnt that great, anchorman was the same for me as well, some funny parts but overall not that great

the movie played out as if i had narcolepsy and kept waking up from time to time, see a few minutes and then pass out again, it had no continuity

he goes from being born to like 12 to being on a pit crew within 20 minutes, then gets in the car and starts winning races and becomes famous in another 20 minutes

just very choppy
