They tested a missile with no payload that blew up 40 seconds into flight, which means it probably never left North Korean Airspace. It also means at this point their big ole US striking missile couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside. If by some strange thought process they actually put a nuke on this missile design it may very well fall right on their collective heads.

I love how there are 5 countries all against North Korea in regards to the missile launch (the U.S., China, Japan, Russia, and South Korea), but after NK actually goes through with the test, neither China or Russia are anywhere to be found. Japan and South Korea had no problem coming forth and condemning the launches. Where are the other two?

And other countries wonder why the U.S. decides to take matters into their own hands. Maybe if other countries would actually back up their talk instead of disappearing when the world really needs them, the U.S. wouldn't have to be the "bad guy" all the time.

China could put the fear of God, or whoever the majority of NK's pray to, in them if they wanted to.

This sucks. I think it was the "taepodong-1" that this asshole launched in 1998 exploded and the shrapnel and stuff landed on ALASKA! That was 8 YEARS AGO!!!

Fast forwrd to today...

The "dong-2" exploded just off the launch pad today (along with 5 other legoland missles that only NORAD knows where they went).

As time passes North Korea's technoloy is developing. That crazy asshole Jong-Il with in the next 4-5 years WILL be able to figure out how to fit his rockets with warheads (nuclear?) and get them to actually fly within range of not-so-accurately striking this country.

The UN is holding an emergency session today, I hope something positive comes of it.

North Korea is a fucked up place. Jong-Il hates us, as do so many other people across the globe. Something diplomatic needs to happen NOW between us and N. Korea. I hope the UN is up for it, because Im not sure that the US govt even cares.

I wish I were more confident in our government and their policies. Its a bad feeling because I love this country and all the freedome we have. We need to begin laying some solid political frame work to deal with the future musings of this crazy motherfucker, as well as trying to repair our image in the rest of the world.

In N Korea, your home comes with a one-channel government-controlled radio built into the wall. It cant be turned off, it can only be turned "down". What a miserable place. And thats just the radio part.....
Wondering if Jong-Il creates a comedy pyramid every once and awhile for fun on his radio show? Maybe theres a "B.Jong.M." card offered on his shows? Talk about syndication!

Nixon would have had this shit wrapped up yesterday with his keen worldwide diplomatic skillz.....

U.S. offers bilateral talks with N.Korea
By JAE-SOON CHANG, Associated Press Writer
27 minutes ago

SEOUL, South Korea - A U.S. envoy expressed support for China's proposal to hold informal six-nation talks on the North Korean nuclear threat and offered to meet bilaterally with the North on the sidelines of those discussions.

Beijing has floated the idea of an informal meeting between members of the six-party nuclear talks — the two Koreas, China, Russia, Japan and the United States. Pyongyang has for months refused to attend formal negotiations, protesting U.S. financial restrictions imposed over the North's alleged counterfeiting, money-laundering and other illegal practices.

"As many of you know, the Chinese have talked about putting together a six-party informal, and we both support that and we think that all countries are prepared to come to that informal meeting," Hill told reporters after meeting with Chun Young-woo, South Korea's top nuclear negotiator.

Asked about the possibility of a bilateral meeting with the North, he said: "Within the informal six-party talks, yes, I can."

"I just can't do it when they are boycotting the six-party talks."
China, a traditional ally of North Korea, has been reluctant to impose sanctions on Pyongyang. But Japan's Yomiuri newspaper reported Saturday that Beijing appeared to have clamped down on the flow of industrial materials to North Korea in a sign of disenchantment with the missile tests.

In a report from the Chinese city of Dandong on the North Korean border, the newspaper said the normally steady cross-border stream of supply trucks from China had all but stopped as of Friday. The paper quoted a trader on the Chinese side as saying traffic had plummeted after the missile tests.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency, however, cited business people in China as saying that any slowdown in trade in the past couple of days was likely due to seasonal factors, not political ones.
