I read this article and could not believe my eyes.
Ime confuzed bie this consept.

On uh syd noht... Uh Bulgaryan gie toled me, hee thot Amarikan naimz sound'd stoopid tu him. He evin sed mi naim (wich iz Pol) iz stoopid tu Bulgaryanz. I didn't reuliz Pol wuz uh naim that wuz Amarikan. Last tym I chek'd... Pol wuz a naim in da Buybal.

I remember reading about the pedigree this concept has - with Carnegie, Rockefeller and Roosevelt behind it, as well as Benjamin Franklin.

My take on it is that English is always evolving anyway to be more simplistic anyway, so it'll become retarded eventually anyway.

Reading that article was like reading a Robbie Burns poem though. Only, you know, bad.

I read this and couldn't help but think of Newspeak from 1984. I just don't understand the idea of simplifying things. It just seems like we are masking the problem of stupidity. Maybe i'm wrong though.

When you look at the fact that Mark Twain thought this was a good idea, how can you disagree? Maybe he just thought it would be a good idea, because it's funny...
