Are you a minority in America?

I'm even more a minority then Blacks, Spanish etc. Wow After looking at this chart I was a little surprised. Everyone where I'm from is some combination of Irish, German, Polish and Italian. I'm only Sicilian. So yeah, definitely the minority. And I've only met one person in my life who had the same thing, and not surprisingly, she was from Jersey.

I think most of the 7.2% who answered &quot;American&quot; are the people who think it's unAmerican to display signs of one's heritage. (i.e. People who bitch about parades and festivals for the Irish, Puerto Ricans, etc.)

my families heritage is a mix.&nbsp; My mom's side is 100% italian and i was raised in an italian neighborhood.&nbsp; my dad is 50% english, 25% german &amp; 25% american indian.&nbsp; Now my moms side came her from Italy in 1910.&nbsp; my dads family came from 1860.&nbsp; I just always considered myself to be American.&nbsp;

I'm a minority Group, I have yet get a tattoo, isn't that what all the cool kids are doing these days.&nbsp; I think heritage is too hard to trace sometimes and we should all consider ourselves americans, not saying don't have your portarian gay pride parade day and all, but why should we segregate ourselves when we should come together. <br />

When my family came to America in the 30's and 40's they were treated the same way blacks and other minortiys are treated. When my family came here they lived in Newark and Newark was all German and Irish. The Wasp's used to throw rocks and other shit at the italians and treat them like shit. Most of my family has actually been here since the 1890's-1900s, and by the 30's and 40's was doing very well for itself, so that muted a lot of discrimination I think. Or at least it wasn't talked about much. But there was still some. I think some of my relatives had to use aliases to get jobs because people wouldn't hire Italians.

I know that just about every country in the world is dealing with racism on some level, but it seems like it's so much a part of the American social milieu. If we are able to overcome that, it would be another American revolution. I find it more interesting that more black families are single mothers with kids then actual married couples raising children.
