Not only do I not have a problem with it, I sure it would help to get more young girls interested in politics.
In this day and age it shouldn't matter even a tad what Gender or Race the president is. It should be the person best fit to do the job. Maybe if we start opening up our minds to accept different types of people as possible Presidential candidates, perhaps we wouldn't be in quite the mess we are today. I don't buy this crap that a woman President can't oversee the military. That's alot of nonsense! At this point it looks like the 2008 candidates will be an Al Gore, John Edwards, Howard Dean, John Kerry, John McCain, Newt Gigrich or Rudy Giuliani (this is according to Gallup). Do any of those names fill anyone with an amazing sense of confidence? I don't think Hillary will even be given a real chance this time around. I think the Democrats will get nervous in the end and go with one of their "safe" choices.

I voted Yes because I would vote for one, but I feel much the same way Stugots does. I'm not looking for one, but if one came along I would hope to just vote according to her abilities and not make it a "1st Woman President" thing.

I voted "yes". The question dealt with whether you are comfortable with the concept of having a woman President, not that you actually would prefer a woman. I think Perry's intent for the "don't care" choice was that you don't care about politics in general (though I could be wrong).

I'd also be comfortable with black, Hispanic, Asian, gay, or even Cold Play fan... as long as they're qualified.

Unfortunately, I dont think a woman would be any better than any of the males presidents. A female president first order of business will be to "show that she cant be pushed around because she's a woman" and somewhere in the 3rd world thousands will be slaughtered as a result (Remember PM Thatcher and the Falklands?).

PLus if you look throughout history, there have been plenty of female leaders of countries. Queens, Czars, etc. And they have been just as egotistical, popmpous and just as likely to dstart wars as the men have. Just for different reasons.

We can't have a female president. She'll push the button in one of those menstrual rages women have!

We'll have one. Before we have a black President. That's my *Radio Psychic*

I wouldn't mind. However, for a woman to be a successful candidate, she'd have to come from the gubanatorial ranks -- in keeping with recent electoral trends.

Who do we have out there? Janet Napilitano of Arizona?
