Legolas... use mapquest. But you should be able to find plenty of parking
there. I think you can park on most of the side streets (61, 62, 63) after 7
pm, and on 2nd avenue after 8pm. I've never had issues finding parking
around there (unlike at Bar 9...!)

Probably from Jersey your easiest bet is to take the Lincoln, pop up to 59th
and come across there. Depending on when you plan to arrive (ie during
rush hour or not) the traffic coming across 59th shouldn't be too bad.

Well shh don't tell bob but for everyone who did shots last time, I was only
charging $5 and apparently I was supposed to charge six. That seems
retarded since there is so much more liquor in a mixed drink than in those
stupid little shot glasses. Also, don't order patron. He charges $10 a shot.

They are only eat in/take out, but the food is great! If you want quick Chinese delivery, I think there's a place on Wellwood Ave. called New Foo. My family owned the bowling alley on the corner of Montauk Hwy and Wellwood that's all boarded up now. We used to order Chinese from New Foo. The best Japanese food i've had is at Gasho on Motor parkway in Hauppauge, which is about 25 minutes from you. There is also a decent place in the South Shore Mall in Bay Shore (Sunrise Hwy). I think its called Sarku. Its about 10-15 away.

TooCute

I lived on the corner of Sterling Place and County Line Road. I lived in the
ghetto part of Amityville.

Oh, stay away from Sarku, that's like going to Panda Express for chinese
food! Anyway, when I used to need my sushi fix, I went to Tai Show on
Merrick Road in Massapequa - nothing special, but the prices were good
for what you were served (I always got box A, with usuzukuri and shu-mai
as my appetizers - I think it was $16 or so, and in addition to the two
appetizers, it included sashimi, a california roll, and miso soup and salad,
too!). I don't know that I ever found any good chinese food anywhere on
Long Island - of course there are plenty of those little takeout places, which
can be good too (kind of like saying, I like good mexican food, but I also like
taco bell. Depends on what you want!). When the Thai place opened up by
the sunrise mall, I was pretty psyched - and it's pretty good. The food is a
little bit on the sweet side, but it's as good as the bulk of the (admittedly
non-impressive) thai places in the city, and better than a lot of them too.
Their sushi isn't really worth it though.

Also - the curried goat at the jamaican place in Amityville is awesome!

If you want an interesting experience, go to Minado in the TJ MAxx shopping
plaza in Carle Place next to the EMS and just north of the Roosevelt Field
Mall. It's an all you can eat Japanese buffet, which includes sushi. Don't go
there for the sushi; it's pretty subpar (fresh, I'm sure, because of the high
turnover, but pretty low quality fish and not particularly well prepared) - but
still, it's edible, and all the other stuff they have there (grilled meats,
noodles, etc) are really great for an all you can eat joint. I used to go there
for lunch all the time when I worked next door!

Also... you're in Lindenhurst - have you been to Indian Taj? It's down by the
water - I hope it's still open; they opened while I was living out there and
never seemed to get much traffic, but they have surprisingly good Indian
food, very cheap, and the decor and all inside are pretty nice! I loved the
water "glasses"....

You know, I should have read. I don't know of any places that to delivery/
take out. The one time I tried to order a pizza because Manny's was closed, I
called a dominos or whatever it was in Massapequa, and they wouldn't
deliver to me because I was in Amityville - different county!

TooCute wrote:
I lived on the corner of Sterling Place and County Line Road. I lived in the ghetto part of Amityville. Oh, stay away from Sarku, that's like going to Panda Express for chinese food! Anyway, when I used to need my sushi fix, I went to Tai Show on Merrick Road in Massapequa - nothing special, but the prices were good for what you were served (I always got box A, with usuzukuri and shu-mai as my appetizers - I think it was $16 or so, and in addition to the two appetizers, it included sashimi, a california roll, and miso soup and salad, too!). I don't know that I ever found any good chinese food anywhere on Long Island - of course there are plenty of those little takeout places, which can be good too (kind of like saying, I like good mexican food, but I also like taco bell. Depends on what you want!). When the Thai place opened up by the sunrise mall, I was pretty psyched - and it's pretty good. The food is a little bit on the sweet side, but it's as good as the bulk of the (admittedly non-impressive) thai places in the city, and better than a lot of them too. Their sushi isn't really worth it though. Also - the curried goat at the jamaican place in Amityville is awesome! If you want an interesting experience, go to Minado in the TJ MAxx shopping plaza in Carle Place next to the EMS and just north of the Roosevelt Field Mall. It's an all you can eat Japanese buffet, which includes sushi. Don't go there for the sushi; it's pretty subpar (fresh, I'm sure, because of the high turnover, but pretty low quality fish and not particularly well prepared) - but still, it's edible, and all the other stuff they have there (grilled meats, noodles, etc) are really great for an all you can eat joint. I used to go there for lunch all the time when I worked next door! Also... you're in Lindenhurst - have you been to Indian Taj? It's down by the water - I hope it's still open; they opened while I was living out there and never seemed to get much traffic, but they have surprisingly good Indian food, very cheap, and the decor and all inside are pretty nice! I loved the water "glasses".... This message was edited by TooCute on 7-26-06 @ 11:58 PM
Jeff discovered Minado's before we moved here. He loves that place. I live 2 streets down from indian Taj, I live right south of Montauk Hwy, there are a lot of restaraunts along Montauk we've been checking out, I've found good Italian food, and Seafood (which I can't eat but everyone raves about that Southside place) but not Chinese yet, I'm going to try everyone's suggestions. I'm not even looking for something amazing, just some decent takeout. My first day here I ordered random takeout and it was horrible.

Magnolia's great. And I have to agree with Mikeyboy about 99. What was it about that year anyway? So many good films. The only thing watching since then has been LOTR and a few other things - Gladiator, Blackhawk Down, Requiem for a Dream just off the top of my head.
