View Full Version : Bob Lassiter
<p>Ron mentioned Bob Lassiter last week. Obviously Lassiter is a legend in the Tampa market and he is writing an amazing blog. As I went thru the "Bob Lassiter Classic Aircheck" site (<a href="http://www.boblassiterairchecks.com/index.html">http://www.boblassiterairchecks.com/index.html</a> ) I heard some of the best stuff ever.</p><p>However there is one in particular that should interest people and it's <a href="http://www.boblassiterairchecks.com/classic/Bruce_2.mp3">http://www.boblassiterairchecks.com/classic/Bruce_2.mp3</a> . The reason it's interesting is the name of the producer in the background and it's connection to everybody's favorite XM radio show! </p><p>Later! </p>

Fez sounds like he is 15 in that clip. That must have been taped in the 50's.

That's pretty f-ing cool! Fez does sound like a kid. Any idea what year that was?
<p>I'm guessing it was in the 93-94 area. Pre-Ron&Ron for Fezzie. </p><p>When I hear that all I can think is Fez is doing a Pee-Wee Herman schtick. But it's super cool nonetheless.</p>

I was under the impression that Fez worked w/ Ron & Ron starting around '88. That's the reason Mikeyboy put "18" as the age for the Ron & Fez Myspace profile.

what or who the hell was that? fez-wee herman?<br />

After that he went to Chicago. </p><p>Either way....cool stuff.</p>

That is not Fez, that's an impersonator.

<p>Very cool, indeed. Thanks for finding it and posting it. Back in those days I was an NPR loser listener. I've since wised up.</p>
<p>Here's another Lassiter find. This one is super long, but it's Lassiter's PM radio show with Ronnie B as a guess back in the day when it was Ron & Ron. </p><p><a href="http://www.boblassiterairchecks.com/wsun/wsunron.mp3">http://www.boblassiterairchecks.com/wsun/wsunron.mp3</a></p>

That was a great find. I probably listened to that show live. Back then my radio never left WSUN.

This was a great two hours of radio. Ron really had it back then. I love how he completely railed that woman going on the cruise with his impression of her... "Bobby, stop it, stop it Bobby".
Someone also called up with an Iris impersonation, so Iris was alive and well back then.
"I had the hard crusty shirt under my bed and my mom's going 'What's this shirt? Why is it so hard?' and I'm going 'Don't touch her, ma'" Ron, on his childhood batch rag

We also found out that Ron was diagnosed with Walking Ebola, and could drop dead any minute

He still posts in his blog everyday at <a href="http://bloglassiter.com">bloglassiter.com</a>. I think he left radio back around 2000, and he's a mess now. He has diabetes, failing kidneys and faught bladder cancer <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Lassiter">lassiter on wikipedia</a>
Update: Lassiter announced today on <a href="http://www.bloglassiter.com/">www.bloglassiter.com</a> that doctors have given him two weeks to live. Sometimes life is cruel in who is selected to go early.

This is misleading. The doctors have giving him two weeks to live... from when his kidneys fail. They haven't failed yet... according to him they "are now functioning at 7% of normal capacity". Right now I believe the number he posted is 6 months to a year to live.

it's very sad. i got teary eyed reading his last entries, and i don't even know the guy. i'm glad, for his sake, that his pain and suffering is over. My thoughts and prayers are with his Muffin.

I submitted that audio to that Lassiter site. The owner was very appreciative. Good to see RF got top billing, too.<br />
