I know this is going to be trite and it wall played territory, but I'm watching Pretty in Pink right now and I was thinking that John Hughes really captured the feel of the 80's. I'm sitting here wondering are there any other director/writers that really captured the feel of the era they were writing about.

The first person I thought of was Cameron Crowe, but I'm trying to think of other generations.

Any opinions?
