Let me go on record as saying that I have a bad feeling about this. What with the arrests in Britain, and it being only a few weeks to the five year anniversary of 9/11, something smells fishy here.

Five missing Egyptian Students are still at large

The students were part of a group that enrolled at Montana State University but failed to appear after arriving in New York nearly two weeks ago, the FBI said in a statement from Special Agent Richard Kolko.

*****

The 11, all male and ranging in age from 17 to 22, were part of a group of 17 that arrived at New York's John F.
Being a 25 year old black man in Ohio I have always disagreed with racial profiling. My family was the only black family in our town of ten thousand people until about five years ago. I should rephrase that. My father and I were the only blacks in town. After I left more started moving in. Anyways, racial profiling could be helpful and I don't deny that. However, how do you profile someone? I have black skin, educated parents, and my own education which allows me to talk like a normal person. I'm not robbing a liquor store ever. There have been cases in which everyday looking white and blacks have plotted to do something terrible against our country. My fiancee and I went to the Reds game and Newport Aquarium on Saturday. We go see the dumb IMAX movie that was playing. We're sitting in the back row cause I'm unsocial and quick tempered and that way nobody can come sit next to me and bother me. Wrong. All of the sudden I hear "last call for the IMAX movie" I turn and look over my left shoulder towards the door and 5 or 6 Muslim women come in. No big deal. However, the last 2 come and sit by me. I was fine with all of them except one. Yep, you got it. The one I was worried about came and sat right fucking by my black ass. Why was I worried being 6'2" 280 lbs.? Probably because most muslim women show there eyes. And in the U.S. a lot show their face. This woman who sat by me is in an all black gown. Everything is covered. Eyes, ears, nose etc. My girl asks me if I want to leave and I of course said no. I said no because i wasn't going to be a cock. I saw it like this. I am a history major and I definitely know how blacks felt in the 50's 60's and before. I was not going to become the black George Wallace. If I had to say what she looked like in as few words as possible I'd say SNAKE EYES. Either way my girl is flying to Cali for her sisters wedding soon. If we could just racially profile people until she got back I'd be content. I have my conceal carry license and until I can take my other lady friend (Glock 23) with me everywhere I am also content to be a hermit in this fucked up world.

From The Montana University Website:

Why did MSU agree to this program with Mansoura University?

Montana State University strongly believes in the importance of international educational exchanges in order to promote mutual understanding and reduce misunderstandings that can lead to terrorism and conflict. MSU believes such programs also help MSU students, faculty and staff to learn more about the exchange students and their cultures.

Specifically, in January 2006, Mansoura University invited several U.S. universities to prepare summer program proposals. MSU's submission was selected as the best of the group. MSU and Mansoura University then entered into a contractual agreement regarding the program.

What do you know about the 17 students selected for the program?

The students, all males between the ages of 18 and 22, are undergraduates studying for degrees in a variety of disciplines at Mansoura University (http://www.mans.edu.eg/english/), which has about 13,000 students and is located outside of Cairo.

How were the students selected?

Students were recruited and selected by Mansoura University. MSU was not involved in the selection process.

What permission did they have to be in the U.S.?

Following selection by their university, the Mansoura students applied for visas from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. Each was individually interviewed by embassy officials, and then granted an F-1 student visa. In all, the visa process took about two months to complete.

What security clearance did the students need before entering the United States?

The primary clearance process is the visa application and interview process. However, the students were also screened by U.S. immigrations and customs officials upon their arrival in the U.S. This process includes visa and passport inspections, biometric registry (including fingerprinting, iris scan, photo), luggage inspections and interviews with Homeland Security officials.

When did MSU notify the authorities about the 11 missing students?

All 17 students selected for the program were expected in Bozeman July 29. The six who arrived at MSU arrived by July 31. On that date, the university worked with Mansoura University, the Homeland Security Office in Helena, Mont., and the Homeland Security Office and Immigration and Customs Office at JFK airport to locate the 11 students who had not arrived in Bozeman.

MSU also sent e-mails to the missing students on Aug. 2, informing them that they must arrive at MSU within 24 hours or they would be reported as "no shows” to the Department of Homeland Security's Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, known as SEVIS. After receiving no response from the students on Aug. 3, MSU reported the students to SEVIS, as the university is required.

Why didn't all 17 come to Bozeman?

The 11 students who did not arrive have not communicated with MSU about their reasons for not coming to Bozeman.

Is the exchange program still under way?

Yes, the six students who arrived at MSU are participating in the classes and activities as planned.

Do the students know each other?

MSU officials are unsure how well the 17 students knew each other before coming to the United States. It is known that the students traveled together to the U.S. embassy in Cairo to obtain visas, that they attended several pre-departure orientation meetings, and that they flew together to JFK airport in New York.

Why weren't they chaperoned on the trip to Bozeman?

International students coming to attend educational programs at U.S. universities normally travel on their own without supervision.

Has it happened before that foreign students en route to Montana State University

The students violated the terms of their student visas. Will they get sent back to Egypt? I haven't been able to get a clear answer from any reports I've read. I've only read that the MAY get sent back.
I worked at JFK for INS ( now CBP). this is not unusual. it is not uncommon to get group of even 40 students from the same country coming in to go to the same university.

Last of 11 missing Egyptian students caught

Mon Aug 14, 3:16 PM ET

CHICAGO (Reuters) - A nationwide search for 11 Egyptian students who failed to show up for an academic program in Montana has ended with the last two caught outside their rented apartment in Virginia, U.S. authorities said on Monday.

"Rather than seeking to attend the academic program in Montana, they actually were here to stay, get jobs, and earn money," said agency spokesman Dean Boyd.

The students did not pose "any credible or imminent threat," but the U.S. agency said it will seek to have them deported.

Listen, like it's always been, America is a magnet for people looking for a better life. After 9-11 it's really fucking difficult for Arabs - especially young male Arabs - to get to America for any reason. (In fact, for Arabs just to apply for a visa here you have to pay $100, and if they aren't accepted - as the majority aren't - they lose the hundred bucks. There's a nice "fuck you" to people with an average income of about $550 per year.)

So these dipshits thought they could weasel in on a student visa program and not get caught. Shocking! That doesn't make them terrorists. I've seen several westerners (including 2 americans) here try to sneak around Yemen in burkas - once to get into a conflict zone up north and once just for shits and giggles. That doesn't make them spies for the west, as the ones who were caught were accused of, (and then allowed to stay). It just makes them stupid.

I wouldn't entirely exclude profiling young Arab men. But, if it was done the way some of you people describe, you'd actually make it easier to attack us because terrorists would simply find someone eho doesn't fit the profile. In the mean time, the entire Arab world would know that we have policies that more-or-less accuses them all of being terrorists. I can tell you that, even in Yemen, with it's 50% illiteracy, these people know what are policies towards them are. Profiling would just be one more reason for many more of them to feel towards us what many Americans feel towards them - blind hatred.
