This morning, I was listening to a local rock station at around 4am, trying to sleep. I remember hearing a song and thinking "Hmm... this sounds an awful lot like Brother Cane" and then remembering "Wait... I thought the exact same thing yesterday morning, at the same time."

A few more songs went by, and a John Mellancamp song came on. When it was over, the DJ said "That was John Cougar Mellancamp, but I know that they used to call him 'Little Johnny Cougar'". I thought, wait a minute... he said the EXACT same thing yesterday morning about that song!

So I'm curious if it's possible that a smaller market rock station would replay a few hours from the day before if they had no DJ to fill the spot. Or, maybe they were just running off the same playlist? I know the station has the ability to put it on auto-pilot if no one can fill in. Where's Matty Fridays, Radio Expert when you need him?

Also, I know that the DJ who was on the air reads this board...

Considering a lot of radio broadcasts are pre-recorded on computer and saved for play later on, it's possible the wrong file was played.

I remember going to a station to record a demo and was told by the local on-air DJ that he keeps the weather forecast fairly vague and makes up numbers that sound reasonable, that way when it's played later that afternoon it's not completely off base.

Of course, he had been burned before by saying it was sunny and by the time they played his show it was raining, but quite a few listeners have no idea where the station physically resides that someone is broadcasting from.
