And I say that only because it ties in nicely with a story he told at his show tonight, at the Canal Room. I got to go because my boss had an extra ticket, and just offered it to me this morning. I didn't know too much about him except the song "Beer Run" from a friend and "Seattle Blues" (I think that's what its called) from College Radio nearly 10 years ago.

Best fucking show I have ever been to

No, I haven't been to very many shows but I was thoroughly impressed and entertained nonetheless. I would suggest him to anyone -- except maybe my parents, they're red staters.

I always like Dan Aykroyd's impersonations of him on SNL.

Dear Oracle,

I'm not a fan of his early stuff - which is pretty hokey. However, his live album was really entertaining - a folky version of Nighthawks at the Diner. And his last two, East Nashville Skyline and The Devil You Know are pretty terrific. Plus he's from Portland.

PM me if you see or hear that he's coming back to the area and I'll do the same for you.

I liked the Canal Room too. My wife and I are going to see Better Than Ezra tonight at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square. Another really cool place--and they seem to get pretty good bookings.
