This is by far and away the most scary movie I've seen since the Kathy Bates sauna scene in About Schmidt. Consistently scary and unbearably claustrophobic, The Descent at its worst made me personall uncomfortable and at its best I jumped out of my seat in horror like I just saw Matty Friday naked.

I wholeheartedly recommend this movie for all horror fans out there. A real gem that deserves to be seen on the big screen. Don't wait until it comes out on DVD, it just won't be the same. I saw the movie in a theater full of loud and obnoxious teenagers who were literally silenced by fear.

Damn was that good.

i saw this movie about 2 months ago from bit torrent, my friend and I laughed throughout the whole thing... Yea i defintely didnt find it scary at all. One thing was the creatures all had bright white teeth. That just made it funny

EDIT: I saw the UK version so maybe they changed certain things..i heard the ending was completely different, but not sure how much of the basic movie they could have changed.

I liked The Descent. Especially the original version, not the one shown in U.S. theaters.
BUT...
They're making a sequel. With the last two women who were alive... so I guess they weren't dead after all.
Booooooooooo.

That's shitty, but I liked the character of Juno, she was kick ass. I will still see the sequel.

An Early Look at 'The Descent: Part 2' (http://www.cinematical.com/2009/01/06/an-early-look-at-the-descent-part-2/)
No matter what I say, I think most of us out there are never going to believe that the follow-up to Neil Marshall's The Descent could ever live up to the original. But, these latest stills from the sequel certainly make me feel a little better about the whole idea -- well, that and the fact that Marshall acted as a 'hands-on' producer for the flick. Still photographer Ollie Upton recently released a whole whack of still photographs from the flick on his website (check them out below) and it looks like things certainly haven't gotten any better for our heroine since we last saw her.

Although it got a theatrical release in Europe, it won't here, so The Descent 2 is available on DVD tomorrow.
From what I've seen, it has received good reviews.

The sequel sucked for the most part. It's a retread of the first movie, just taking on the characteristics of any other modern gorefest.
If you evaluate it as a gorefest, it's just fine, but it really doesn't hold a candle to the original.

I wish they would make a high-budget flick out of Jeff Long's The Descent, instead of just ripping off the title and underground setting.

It isn't as skillfully done, sometimes stuff in the sequel is a little ham fisted, but its still a good watch. There is one scene of claustrophobia that I think trumps the first movie, though.
