I'm not sure why they got 60 days for a prank that went wrong especially since there weren't any " serious " injuries .

Either way they shouldn't be getting a delay before having to serve their sentences.

I mean as it is they are gonna miss 50+ days of school so shouldnt they have to skip the entire year let alone be able to play football ?

If you wanna delay it so they don't miss school, and use that lame excuse, delay the sentence until Summer 2007.

http://articles.news.aol.com/news/_a/ruling-in-deer-decoy-prank-divides-city/20060819065209990002

On one side are those who say allowing Dailyn Campbell, a 16-year-old quarterback, and 17-year-old teammate Jesse Howard to play shows that football players get preferential treatment

On the other are those who say either the boys deserve another chance or that they will stay out of trouble if they're part of the team.

"they will stay out of trouble?" - it's almost as if it is a threat to the community, " let them play or see who else they fuck up "

sometimes there are situations where someone needs to be made an example of which is probably the best way to deter future fuckups. it's the chance you take when you do something dangerously foolish.

I guessI didnt read it too closely but I went back and reread it and saw the 10 surguries stuff.

We're on the same page that they should be punished but in comparison to things done by other people say much more violent crimes I dont think the act was that bad but it did have serious ramifications.

I can look to myself as a younger kid doing stupid things like this, throwing snowballs and eggs and stuff at cars, never once thinking somebody could have an accident and something really bad could happen.

That part of me thinks the punishment is heavy.

But if the same judge sentenced them that did the trial it seems like placating them for the football season is a bit wierd.
