Aren't TV stations main task to serve the public? Tropical storm Ernesto is currently in my neck of the woods and all the local stations are displaying tomorrow's school closings and delays using a crawl along the bottom of the screen except and this bugs me because my school was just about to be listed when they cut to commercial and the crawl was removed. WTF.

Is there main job to serve the public wouldn't that be very important during dangerous weather. Wouldn't keeping us updated at all times meet that requirement. Cant let anything happen to our precious commercial overlords but we will edit the shit out of movies and put all sorts of distractions on your screen to promote other crap just not during commercials but now I'm ranting

any thought?

If you know your school was going to be listed, then why were you watching?

i think tv's main job is to sell advertising and scare us all into buying crap we dont need

living in tampa, they originally had ernesto coming right at us and after it started moving east and was no longer slated to hit tampa, all the weatermen were still hyping up the worry machine like they had a financial interest in people going out and buying supplies, we were getting ernesto updates evry ten minutes and sometimes a little box in the right hand corner of the screen telling us what ernesto was doing

fucking greedy bastards
