I got mugged today

There were three of them. Kids, really. I was coming into my building, they sort of surprised me from behind and popped me right in the face. I gave them what I had in my wallet (lucky it was only $60) and they ran away.

Good thing the police got them. The guy who punched me at least. As they ran I was dialing 911.

No, no $60 back. The whole experience was so weird. I don't think they quite knew what they were doing.
I'm fine though which I'm certainly grateful for. I just got my nose bloodied. It didn't feel like it was even that hard a punch, really. The thing is that I used to live, about two years ago, in a neighborhood in DC where muggings were far more prevalent, and I went to school there since recently and I was fine. It was just unlucky lottery I guess.

<p>Very lucky. I had a boss who was stabbed in the stomache without so much as a word being uttered and then they took his wallet. He needed minor surgery to close the wound, but was otherwise OK.</p><p>I fought off a couple of attempts when I was in college and not thinking about the possibilty of weapons. I could see how they could have gone differently if&nbsp;I had been blindsided. I'm a big guy, so I was surprised that they would even try at all.</p>

One of the guys was pretty big... a tough dude. Four or 5 teenagers started some shit with them. The big guy told them to fuck off. One of the kids swung a pipe at him, and he blocked it. No problem, right?</p><p>Wrong. One of them came up behind him and nailed him in the head with a brick. With the big guy down, it was 4 on 1 for the other guy. One of them was in the hospital for weeks. It wasn't even a mugging... just an ass kicking. They finally caught them a few weeks later.</p>

It'd actually be illegal to just shoot them dead. You're only allowed to use whatever force is proportional to stop them from committing the crime, and killing people is usually frowned upon unless you believe they're going to kill you. Besides the fact I generally don't want people's blood on my hands. <br><p>
