So what do you guys think of Earl & Dave as producers?

Always blaming each other & shit when someone drops the ball -

and while we're at it - Fezzies football picks.. What gives?

Thoughts?

maybe it's just a matter of "you get what you paid for" or "what they paid for" meaning XM... it looks like they put alot of time in but don't get too much out of it. most likely "focus" issues

with Fezzies picks you say to yourself "the odds are he's got to win eventually"... but as a bookie once told me "you always bet a winner to win, never bet a loser to win"

I like ESD because he's like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get. I don't know how that translates professionally, but it seems to make for good radio (IMO). I would imagine it's kind of like working with a special child; they may not be successful in the task, but you know they made a good-hearted attempt.

On the other hand, Earl tends to annoy me. You can't count on the fact that you'll get the whole truth, and he always seems to be playing "catchup," like the job is just a little bit over his head. If something goes wrong he goes into corporate double-talk, like "mistakes were made but we will try to work the problem," or "we need to get on track and keep our heads in the game." If not that, then he blows a gasket. He appears to operate like a mature 5 year old, seeming to be a "big boy" until things don't go his way - then he throws a temper tantrum.

All things being equal, I've had to work with people like both Dave and Earl. I find it more palatable to work with a gregarious, well-intentioned "idiot" like Dave than someone like Earl who takes themselves too seriously and can't quite handle the responsibilities and demands of their job.

But who am I to talk - I'm sure a lot of people don't like me or the way I work. Plus, everything is based on what I have heard during a 3 hour weekday radio broadcast; who knows what is real.

I have to believe that if the Buddaays really wanted a better staff, they would get one. Look at the staff that O&A have. I've lost count of how many people they have working for them. XM seems to be willing to pay to support shows.

I sort of get the idea that it is all part of the bit, and that it just gives Ron and Fez something to play off. Last week when the Boys were on vacation, I listened to a lot of the old (pre XM) shows. Ron and Fez have always made a bit out of having fun with their staff.

Sure some days Ron really gets pissed off , and who can blame him, but for the most part it is very funny.

I think Dave is really funny and appreciate his willingness to share personal embarrassments for the good of the show. Who else has the balls to tell the audience that had a bed-wetting problem as a kid.

They're awful at their jobs, but they make for great radio. They'd both be gone if Ron wasn't interacting with them during the show.
Earl and Dave are living proof that slackers have a place in the world. If they had REAL jobs, they woulda been shit-canned SO long ago!

Earl, I'm not so sure of.

Dave plays this character you hear on the radio who is lost in life and is kinda stupid, really. I think he knows what he is doing, he's got that gimmick down. The only thing that translates to his real life I think would be his Naivity. He really brings a nice change to the show.

And Earl, earl is a bumbling fool who can't do anything that pertains to his job. It gets quite annoying hearing him constantly dance around reasons why he f'd up on his duties.

Listening to them is almost like that scene in From Russia With Love where Colonel Klebb and Kronsteen are blaming each other for the plan to kill James Bond failing.
