Anything by Pete Townsend (solo)!!!!!!!

In my opinion, the best driving album is one called "Up To Here" by a Canadian band called The Tragically Hip. They are a CanCon staple that for some reason, never hit it big in the USA. The album is great driving tunes from start to finish. It came out in 1989, but it remains one of my all time favorites and still hits regular rotation on long road trips. It was their second album and they are still going strong today.

If you are even remotely interested here is a link to their site. http://www.thehip.com/index.html

Since I got XM 2 years ago I don't rely on CDs nearly as much as I used to, but a long road trip requires at least 3 classic Stones albums (Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Exile On Main Street, Some Girls, etc.) and every single Bon Scott-era AC/DC album.
Since I got the XM I haven't listened to CDs or MP3s. XM gives all the music I can ever want. I listen to Highway 16, The Loft, The Village, Bluegrass Junction, Deep Tracks, Big Tracks, Fred, Ethel, US Country, X Country... etc... All the rock and country stations are great. I also listen to the Old Time Radio station when not listening to music or 202.
I'm not even sure if I could list everything I use as good driving music. But currently I listen to "Deja Vu" from Beyonce feat. Jay-Z, "Sexyback", "London Bridge", "Hustlin'", then theres the Allmans, Dave, Jack, Donovan, G. Love, Dylan and Phish. No particular album and no particular song, just great music to listen to while cruising.

I like to listen to Ron & Fez shows that I burn onto CD's when I'm driving, but when the need for music strikes, almost anything Meatloaf, White Stripes, and usually some European dance music.

It's actually Fahren Fahren Fahren on the Autobahn. Fahren means "Driving" in German. It's from whence we also derive the Volkswagon slogan fahrvergnugen which is "driving enjoyment."

I apologize for the german lesson.

Lots and lots of good ones so far. Here's one that makes me want to floor it and it always seems to come on when I'm driving through a small town with a 25 limit --

Galaxy 500 performed by Reverend Horton Heat from the album Lucky 7

The first time the drums kick in and the rev screams "Yeah" is a top ten all time musical feeling thing (tm) for me. It's insanely good and makes you wish you had a nitro boost or something to kick in.

For a mellow long drive, I'd also add They Might Be Giants album Flood.
