Yea...it looks nice....I jsut wish they would build something in that large hole...

As some people here know....I was down there on 9/11 and several days after.....only went back once to see my cousin's and a few friends names on the plywood sign that hung on the fence for a couple of years.......not a bad memorial as long as they touched up the paint now and then...

I would like to see a small memorial park built in the middle and then put those buildings back up.....and then get back with our lives!!!!

the best tribute we could pay would to finally build something there,

it shouldn't have taken this long to rebuild or at least be in the process of building

since i am in construction i have been back there too many times to count. wheather it was for christmas tree lightings or ceromies or for work reasons. construction has started there, it is just in the begining stages. the way 200 chambers street went up (how fast) there is no reason why the buildings cant be done at the time that they stated.

It looks awful! It looks like Oz. Donald Trump had the best idea of them all. Build the two buildings identical to the Twin Towers only make them one floor higher. That would be the perfect statement, and it would look like New York, not the Emerald City.
There are too many painful memories attached to those old buildings. Every time I see pictures of them I still think of people jumping out of windows. I don't think anyone would even want to work in them. I know I would'nt. Like the new buildings or not, I think we need to move forward.

We've never pussied out ever since. If they ever put those buildings back up and I was offered a job on the top floor I would take it without question. I also love these people that can't watch any of the 9/11 movies that have come out recently. Does anyone realize that they were pumping out WWII flicks all throughout the war, one after another? And the greatest thing about them was that they strengthened our resolve. People didn't wring their hands over them. That's why they are considered The Greatest Generation. I'm pretty sure at this point that we'll be remembered as The Weakest Generation.

It sounds good "lets stick it to Osama" but the old WTC buildings were a white elephant almost from the day they were built. The design with the main supports in the center of the building (for hieght) meant that too much usuable space was lost. Building anything with over 75 stories of usable space doesn't make sense financially. That building was filled with alot of NY state owned and/or affiliated companies (it was built by the Port Authority). Silverstein can't rebuild that (privately owned) and make anything. Especially since the office space market has changed dramatically since those towers went up in the late 60's. Downtown is going residential, and has been for years.

I like the building designs, architects will tell you Manhattan has not been known for innovative or even mildly interesting architecture. Though that has improved in recent years. New designs make the city more interesting, more vibrant. More of a place that welcomes new ideas and new talent.

But I'm sick of talking about this. Just fucking build SOMETHING already. Its been 5 years. Part of the problem is the insurance company is fighting Silverstein over the amount they'll pay. Another part is all the politicians want to put their hand in the cookie jar, as usual.

People didn't wring their hands over them.
The difference is that 9/11 was already witnessed and felt by everyone in America live as it happened. Those old romantic WWII movies over-dramatized what people were not already witness to. Therefore shaping peoples views and opinions on the war itself. To me, the 9/11 movies seem like an attempt to fictionalize the actual events that everyone saw, and make them more "palatable." Those WWII movies "strengthened resolve" because they were overt propaganda and everyone in the country could agree on a common enemy and a course of action to win the war. We dont really have this in our current situation with those camelfuckers in Iraq and beyond. About the skyline...kinda crappy.
