I renew yearly, it's nice to just have it and be done with the paying for it thing.

My free (w/car) intro sub expired the other day; no mail notice, contract offers, nothing; all channels suddenly went to "sign up now" ads.......on the good side, these ads give # to call....and form-reading operator aside, the reconnection was quick and easy.

There were 1, 2 and 3 year conract deals (of course, monthly fee bit less with longer sign-up...but not much, esp cuz doesn't avoid $ for new/diff/replacements/additions.).

One key complaint: it is up to me to "unsubscribe" next year, otherwise they will use (obligatory) credit card # to automatically resign contract- that was one more reason why i kept it to just 1 year

To be fair, while this sounds a bit like many cell service call-ups, there wasn't (!) any long waiting on hold insanity.

I initially got a Roady2 in March and signed up for a month-to-month. When I signed up they offered me a free RoadyXT as long as I did a 6 month sub on that unit, which I did since we had two cars. Then I got the MyFi in June, so I could record and listen the next day, and signed up for the yearly sub on that unit. I'll probably drop the Roady2 and use the MyFi in its place, and re-up the XT in the second vehicle on a yearly plan. The yearly seems to be the best financially. Even if O&A and R&F leave XM I'm still hooked on the concept.
