What was the first band you had to know everything about? Mine was The Police I remember feeling like I knew a big secret cause I knew Sting's real name. I had a big poster of them on my wall surrounded by articles and pics that I cut out of Creem magazine. I was pretty bummed when they broke up.

Since I got older I find I dont really care to learn about a band anymore. I love the Dandy Warhols have most of there albums but dont feel the need to learn a thing about them.

What about you?

AC/DC - If I wasn't just some faceless guy on a satelite radio show fan message board I'd never admit that to anyone. My tastes have really changed since I was 10.

They must haul in a nice salary and they're decently famous, but not really enough of either to have it be a problem. Like I'm sure they can walk around Brooklyn without it being a problem.

in 1987, i heard "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" on WNEW and i was an instant R.E.M fan ... as the years passed, i might've obsessed over other bands -- but i've alway gone back (except for some of 'out of time')

I'm still as enamored with AC/DC as I was when I was a kid, if not more so. I'll never "outgrow" them.

The reviews were from critics and musicians (young and old), and were generally 50/50 regarding the band.
My first favorite was the Beatles. My brother would always ask what I wanted for Christmas, and I'd request a Beatles album. One year he asked, and I started to name more Beatles. He said, "you know... there are other bands". He got me The Who-Quadraphenia, Rolling Stones-Get Yer Ya Ya's Out, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush-Live, and one I can't remember.

I haven't bought a Beatles album since.

I was nine years old. My cousin had All the World's a Stage, their first live album and I made a tape of it. I grew up in a Hispanic household and never heard rock music at home, so when I heard them it was just so powerful and wicked, like having conquered evil, just like By-Tor & The Snowdog. One wiff and I was hooked; done! Put a fork in me.

After that I just loved all music, so from the age of 12 of 13 and I had started making money mowing lawns an shoveling snow I went out and I ate up everything about music, records, tapes, magazines, sheet music (and I didn't pick up the guitar until I was 30!!) and eventualy CDs (I have almost a thousand). I wanted to know everything about every band, artist and piece of music that touched me. This lasted until about five or six years ago when radio changed and I started to hate the music I heard. Now thanks to my iPod and iTunes, and my own determination to find music I like, that part of me is back. All I need now is the disposable income that I had when I was 23, making 25Gs a year and living at home.

Ahh, the good ol' days.
