Since people have started using the Everything O&A thread to discuss the show in progress, we're trying out something new this week, an O&A listening thread!I know it's a tad late for Monday's show, but I forgot to do it last night...  There's always the replays to discuss for 9/11, and much more radio to come all week long!

O&A talking about Bill Burr.I'm glad he did what he did.  Burr was right, there was probably a large amount of that crowd that is the G.E.D. crowd.  They love to boo.  There's a huge "let's gang up on this guy" mentality that is extremely contagious in Philly.  But just listen to that applause at the end.  Bill won.

I understood his point perfectly, but he was talking about this general war on terror and insurgents. Who are you going to 'carpetbomb' to destroy the Iraqi insurgency or al Qaeda? They are loosely connected networks that have no central leadership that can 'be brought to the table' as Anthony said. At least Hezbollah has a clearly defined position and leadership. Another reason they aren't a terror group. So who and where would Anthony exactly carpetbomb?

I love when they talk about the Stern show too. I fell they are selling more Sirius than XM at this point. If they are gonna talk about him for 78 minutes after they dissect his throw away comment about Sattelite growing at a faster pace than cell phones, they are really showing how little they have on their own. It just shows that they know he is the most important player. I suggest anyone who can, try to find out from someone what Howard ACTUALLY said, and you will know how full of garbage O and A are. Ron and Fez are the only reaon to have an XM unit. If they go to FREE FM, throw your XM in the trash and save 14.00 a month.

I suggest anyone who can, try to find out from someone what Howard ACTUALLY said, and you will know how full of garbage O and A are.Well, Stern did say "growing faster than cell phones"* And O&A have played Stern's own show many times when they bash him. If there is an example of something being portrayed incorrectly then you might want to point it out.*Not sure if he meant his show, Sirius, or Satelite Radio as a whole, but any of those is not growing anywhere as fast as Cell Phones (even if you only consider Cell Phones in just the USA, not counting China like Jimmy was: They were quoting figures like 2 billion Cell Phones, which would be impossible for XM and Sirius combined to match since the US population is only about 300 Million. And that isn't really growth that O&A are talking about, they should be comparing percentage rates of growth not numbers of customers)

He said satelite radio, as a medium is growing at a faster rate than cell phones did at the same time of its development. Remember Cell phones were real shitty and expensive for the first few years they were out, so I highly doubt that this is an inaccurate comment. He referenced himself as feelling he has helped speed up the process. He also had a friend on who owns a large dealership explain that 40% of new cars are leases and that Sat. Radio is becoming standard equipment, just like the change to CD players from tape decks a few years ago. Since leases are usually 3 years, at least 40% of new cars will have Sat by 2010. The friend did mention that Sirius is more requested than XM. Howard did mention that where he feels he has had the biggest impact is in retail. Before he signed on the Sirius, XM was doing double the business in retail that Sirius was. Now that trend has completely flip flopped.

Cell Phones did suck when they first came out but the buisness world took to them fast since it was still better than not having a way to communicate while away from their desks. Satellite Radio wasn't so bad when it first came out but it's a "luxury" item.But, you have a good point and O&A should not have taken it out of context like that.
