<p>Everyone, even those who are deaf, knows music companies are greedy, greedy scumbags that take people's talent, music, inspiration and souls, sign it all to a contract and hold a firm grip collecting millions until their album sells less than the previous one.<br /><br />Why do you think you always hear of artists fighting to get out of their contract?<br /><br />This is the way it has been happening from beginning.<br /><br />In fact, I'm pretty sure there are some Egyptian heiroglyphics showing a bird, a man with a dog's head, and a struggling artist trying to by the rights back to a song he wrote while building Khufu's pyramid.<br /><br />ANYWAY...<br /><br /><span style="font-size: 130%"><a href="http://www.wired.com/news/wireservice/0,71791-0.html?tw=rss.index"><font color="#77aa99" size="3">YouTube in Copyright Cross Hairs</font></a></span><br /><br /><em>Universal Music Group, the world's biggest record company, is stepping up pressure against popular websites YouTube and MySpace, accusing them of infringing the copyrights of its artists' music videos.</em><br /><em /><br />For fooks sake, leave it alone.<br /><br />So, for you, Universal Music, I give you the following YouTube videos of Universal artists, and everytime someone plays them, you ain't gettin' a cent. Assholes.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_nAF_8dhQw"><span style="font-size: 180%"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Audioslave</font></span></a><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTt0oyZ_n1o"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Blues Traveler</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA6x0FGNtBk"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Counting Crows</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c91nt_Yf4CU"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Def Leppard</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSTvWf7GzXA"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Eels</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp2FHZVHdNo"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Fallout Boy</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM_0OPYk4h8"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Godsmack</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdY2dzcKUeo"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Hank Williams</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuNpN5M_52A"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Insane Clown Posse</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8XQmOSixm0"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Jay-Z</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhI4Ssi1rws"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">KISS</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njcGYH5kADI"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Lionel Ritchie</font></a></span><br /><span style="font-size: 180%"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFjGzlXWXlU"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Marilyn Manson</font></a></span><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx9_OC529wE"><span style="font-size: 180%"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Nelly Furtado</font></span></a><font size="5"><span style="font-size: 180%"> </span><br /></font><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H5s2r4ZQmk"><span style="font-size: 180%"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Onyx</font></span></a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLFTPrTEfq4"><span style="font-size: 180%"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">PussyCat Dolls</font></span></a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ5QQG31WBg"><span style="font-size: 180%"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Queens Of The Stone Age</font></span></a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo5vpbTTjz4"><span style="font-size: 180%"><font color="#77aa99" size="5">Rusted Root</font></span></a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.co

<p><em>So, for you, Universal Music, I give you the following YouTube videos of Universal artists, and everytime someone plays them, you ain't gettin' a cent. Assholes.</em><br /><br />=</p><p>True, but then again, the artists dont get a cent either. </p><p>I know an artist who has many videos up on YouTube, isnt seeing a cent, seeing his personal copyrights infringed, sees others making money off of videos his label [which he owns] paid to make, and paid to maintian the right for in order to put out their own video/DVD collections.</p><p>The big names listed may/may not be hurt by something like YouTube, but some out there struggle hard to maintain some semblance of control over what they make, and to actually get paid instead of their stuff getting streamed for free/bootlegged.</p>

<p>further, your post brings up an excellent point, in fact The point that the future of music, and just about all media, in the future. Ron said this week the little guy always ends up getting screwed, and in this case it's true. For Universal, like you said correctly, they are, like the other majors, built on corruption and theft of the artist. So for the Universal/Sony/BMGs, YouTube means simply instead of making billions and billions, they'll only make billions. But that is already changing because...</p><p>the internet is arguably the least regulated high-technology to ever exist. So the Kazaas and Napsters and YouTube sprout up, and I loved em and downloaded as much as the rest, and for me, YouTube is the coolest thing ever, no matter how obscure some band is, there are the videos, cool as hell for rare and obscure stuff. </p><p>So I'm on both sides of the fence. YouTube rules, but if copyrights were actually enforced, whether it's good/bad right/wrong, YouTube would have been shut down yesterday.</p><p>Which would suck, coz i gotta go see some Kraftwerk vids...</p>
