My tires were getting a little thin and I had a few too many close shaves with skids and spin outs that I decided to invest in 4 new tires. I looked around and was impressed with the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread. They are suppose to be the sine qua non of tiredom. They are very popular and I checked many places online and Mavis seemed like it had the best price. So I went there and guys were ordering them right in front of me. The sales guy kind of skeeved me out though and I talked with him a while and got his quote. On my way there, I noted a Goodyear distributor like 2 blocks away, so I took my quote and left and stopped off at the Goodyear place and they beat the price by $10 a tire (still steep at $117.00 each though!) and so I got them from the Goodyear place. I head home with my new tires, feeling all proud and wondering about the impact of the investment.

I also have another vehicle, a minivan, which I hadnt run in a few weeks, so I went to go start it, and it wouldnt turn over. I jump it and get it going and check the battery and see it has no water in it. Great! So, I take the minivan and head to Sears (Diehard battery) and the guy is checking it out and notices my serpentine belt is frayed. Great!! The battery turns out is out of warrantee, but they knock some money off it and the belt and battery end up costing me almost $200!!

My grand total for the day is $750.00!!

By the way, I looked at the tire selection in Sears while they were fixing the van. You know how much the same Triple Tread was in Sears? $111.00!!!!!

From now on, I only shop in Sears for my car! I havent gotten screwed yet!
