Anyway to backup music on an iPod?

Since my hard drive crashed several weeks ago I've been using my laptop while trying to figure out a way to see about recovering my hard drive. It doesn't look like I'm able to save anything so I'm going to format and rebuild my system. Though I would like to be able to take all the music that is on my ipod and back it up before reinstalling the ipod. I'm worried that once I sync it up I'll lose all the music on it. Is there any programs that I can, or if you have any suggestions as to how I can do this I would appreciate it.
