Apparently these three mexican savages were calling him faggot and other names for a while...Missy's bro ignored it and listened to his tunes...regardless of what his sexual persuasion is, i don't know if the kid is gay or not...we're not that close...and even if we were,  who knows for sure and what fucking difference does it make...they waited until he got off the bus and these three DIRTY MEXICAN COWARDS beat his face to a pulp. i hope they prosecute this as  ahate crime and i hope these filthy pieces of shit spend the next good years of thier life where all of thier kind should be...in a cage being thrown scraps of food

Thank you for all the well wishes everyone.  I just got back from my Dad's.  Basically, these kids have been yelling fuck you faggot at my brother in the hallways all year.  He just started a new school this year (my old high school).  He's been ignoring it and popping on his ipod.This is not in a bad area.  It's in Westchester.  Someone tipped him off that this kid wanted to fight him, and the kid is on the same bus, so he got off at a different stop.  They followed him, ran at him from behind and beat him while he was being held down.  Some other kids saw it and helped him up and called my father.  He has a broken nose and a concussion.  He has black eyes and lumps all over his head.  My brother is one of the gentlest, sweetest kids you'll ever meet.  He didn't deserve this.  This was not some simple high school fight, they beat him while he was down.Two kids who saw it happen came forward to the school and ID'ed 2 of the kids involved.  I am so happy for that because I was worried they would be scared to do it.  My brother is now terrified that this kid or his friends is going to retailate against him.Luckily we have a family friend who is a criminal defense laywer.  He came with us to the school and is dealing with the detective assigned to the case.  He is trying to get it proscecuted as a hate crime.  There is supposed to be an arrest tonight.  The kid is supposed to be suspended from school today.I can't even tell you the amount of uncontrollable rage I have been feeling the past day.  I'm trying to keep myself in check for my brother.

And I consider myself a pretty liberal person, but my hometown is having a HUGE crime problem with illegals.  This just tops it off.  The majority of them do not live by US standards.  A few months ago cops tried to shut down a local bar and they rioted and put 3 cops in the hospital.  This used to be a town where kids could ride their bikes at night, not like that anymore.  Also, when someone attacks a family member, you're gonna call them every racial slur in the bookI'm still so pissed. My brother is going to be living in fear for months.

Missy,  So sorry to hear about your brother.  I know that you are full of rage right now but don't let it eat you up.  Sounds like the legal people have enough information to get some kind of justice for your brother.  I know that may not seem like enough right now as I'm sure your brother will be dealing with a lot of issues over the next few days/weeks, but try to remember that there's a lot of good in the world.

How about EXPELLED? Holy shit I had no idea this happened on a School Bus. And I know exactly how your bother feels. I was treated the same way in school, with bullies and all that, so this story brought back alot of painful memories. if these kids try to get back at your brother I think some 'alternative' means of getting Justice done might be nesseccery. Keep us posted as to what happens and a speedy recovery for your brother.I know this sounds a little cliche` but has he considered taking martial arts/self defense classes? I know they helped me physically and mentally.

It happened right off of the school bus on the street.  They can't tell us if he will be expelled or not, but all the threats and bullying were done on school property.My brother is a tall lanky kid.  He wants to take some kind of martial arts now.  He was pissed that he didn't fight back.  He said it all happened in the space of a minute and there were 3 kids.

EXPELLED is right.  This is just bull.  If you bring the TV media then all you'd get is how these kids "never cause problems"  Their family crying on how this is injustice and they are being picked on because of their ethnicity.  OH this make me furious.  Before anyone says anything back to me.  I am of spanish decent and my parents came here to make a better life for us.  They did the decent thing and learned english and made sure we were proud and remembered our heratige but also we were now AMERICANS and were proud to be so!  Missy I truely feel for you and your family.  I am sorry that your brother was picked on and hope everything turns out good for you.

same thing pretty much happened to me when I was in High School. 
Granted, no one called me "faggot" and beat me badly, but I was robbed
and punched at knife point by two other kids on the way in to school. There
was just this sense of "powerlessness" I felt at the time and I STILL
feel today.  I replay that incident in my mind CONSTANTLY and get
angry at myself all the time for not fighting back.  I just hate
the notion of being considered a "victim", because it implies I just
sat there and took it and was scared.  But it just happened so
fast I couldn't really get my mind into a position where I could react
physically.  It still grates on me everytime I think about it that
I didn't do more to protect myself.  And I know I may have been
killed or hurt badly, as my dad and sister like to point out, but is it
really worth my life to just live in fear? 
 Anyway, Missy, you and your brother are in my
prayers.  They caught the guys that jacked me up, and I hope the
authorities are well on the way to apprehending those that did this to
you brother.

Absolutely awful story, and I hope everything works out for the best for your brother and you Missy.  This sounds awfully similar to something that happened to the son of a friend of mine last Saturday night.  He was beaten at gunpoint by some spanish guys because he was wearing "colors."  What he was wearing was a yellow Boston Bruins jersey.  These pathetic little wimps put a gun to his neck and stomped the shit out of him.  Anyone who needs a gun and/or a gang to be tough is the very definition of "faggot" themselves.

I take this story from many ways. Having gone through something fairly similar recently, although I was lucky enough not to have my ass completely kicked, I can say you're probably doing the right thing not talking to the media. I felt kind of embarrassed, and that's one of the things I hate most about it. I'd be as low profile about it as possible. And yes, pursue every legal angle. Revenge is a dish best served cold. As someone who has also witnessed his share of bus fights, I also once saw brutal bloody revenge get taken on someone by an older brother. It was well worth whatever trouble he might have gotten in. We all cheered. See if you can hire Funkman's friend Lord of Iron to go teach these kids a lesson, Classy Freddy Blassie style. Unfortunately I think the deal with school districts is that its all politics. The school district doesn't want to get sued, which they might if they expel this kid because they're afraid the family will cry racism. But they don't want your family to get pissed either, so they suspend him so it looks like they're doing something. Then they can brag to all the people who care about such things about what good work they're doing keeping troubled teens in schools where they belong. It's all about CYA in terms of legal liability.

(and properly). I was built like he was in school also. It will take a while for your brother to feel safe and secure. He might need a therapist to talk to. I know I would. missy , hope your brother is doing fine, I remember back in grade school, we used to pick on this one kid. We would put signs on his back-- "kick me i'm gay", and stuff of that sort. the picking started in 6th grade, we kept it up until 10th grade, just kept picking on him. Then in 1 week he whipped my ass and 2 other guys that used to pick on him. He got suspended for 3 days, then in school suspension for another week. After the ass whipping ,I started talking to him  and found out that he was actually a nice guy, and to this day he is one of mey best freinds.  Tell your bro to take defense classes, and then 1 day just unload!!

These kids are actually "Mexican"? I thought they tend to keep a low profiile considering their citizen status.kind of reminds me of a story that a "friend" of mine went through in highschool. this friends brother had fought a person of african american persuasion and later that night (mischief night) the same kid and three of his friends approached my friend thinking he was his brother since they look pretty similar. my friend "allegedly" took The Club out of his car and proceded to beat the 3 black gentlemen in defense of getting jumped. my friend had to move to pennsylvania for a few months, things cooled down and life went on...ok thats nothing like your brothers story, but i thought i'd tell a good story.hope he's ok. gets well and gets through highschool as quickly as possible if he's not one of the "cool kids" because if you're not its the worst 4 years of your life. martial arts classes might be a bit silly or over doing it. tell him to find a few pals. at least in groups 1 person is harder to get to. he'll have better chances during a rumble.

If the kid is such a trouble maker, then there should be some kind of a paper trail for everytime he got in trouble. That should make it easier to expel him without having to worry about the racism claim. High school is a lot like prison..you need to kick someones ass or fight, just to show that you wont take any shit from people, then they will leave you alone. Hope he gets better soon.

The lawyer has said I shouldn't get into too much detail with people, but I'll say as an update, the school is doing the right thing, the police are not as of now.  When I called to get an update, I was told that this is not a TV show, and they can't do anything yet.  I am so frustrated.

Missy, first let me offer my condolences and well wishes to your brother and your family, and you. It would appear that every crime has many victims, even those not listed on a police report.As for the police department's response, their callousness does not mean that they arent actively working on the case, merely that people sometimes do actually want us to gather evidence, solve the crime and bring the offender to justice in the span of 60 minutes (including commercials). Leave it to your brother's lawyer to get the "updates" from the police, but dont expect one every day. Justice, even at its most swift, takes time. For now, I concentrate my thoughts on your brother's well being; currently and future.

Thanks Chris, I am going to let the lawyer handle updates from the police.  That is probably the best thing to do.  I'm just so mad.  My Mom died when my brother was very young, so my sister and I practically raised him (I am 10 years older than him).  To see him in that condition just kills me.

missy & jeff... this really makes me fucking mad. I'm sure we've all seen this bs that goes on. I've been on both sides of this, but now whenever I see it, it always makes me mad. Hating someone else because you're stronger than them (although obviously not emotionally...) is one of the only things that makes me angry as hell.

Just yesterday, I saw a bunch of kids making fun of another one ("wow, you're a fag" and "you're clothes are gay" and "you're poor"). I didn't say anything because I didn't want to get involved, but I really regret it. Last night I felt terrible about not saying anything, especially since I know I could've made them shut the fuck up. I don't see people get beat up because of stuff like this (yet...), but the words are almost as bad.

I know I don't make serious posts anymore, but fuckin a, if I could change anything about people it would be the hate.

I think a more appropriate term, for the people who did this terrible thing, would be "assholes". Nationality doesn't have anything to do with hateful behavior.I hope the people who did this get their asses reamed in jail. I hope Missy's brother will be OK.

i got jumped myself one time by seven brothers in an apt building in jersey city. i was around 16 at the time. went there to cop a nickel of weed with a buddy. we went up a flight and a half and this one guy stops us and asks us what we want. my buddy had the five bucks tells him what we want and gives him the 5.immediately after three guys come walking up the stairs towards me and another three come out of the shadows(one with a stick). the strange thing is i didn't catch on right away and actually greeted the guys coming toward me and was ready to shake their hand. then all hell broke loose as i watch my buddy who knew immediately what was going on took off down the stairs and disappearedi made it down half a flight of stairs and the next thing i know i'm in a push-up position on the floor getting punched, kicked, and whacked with a stick. somehow i made it to my feet and i got to the stairs, made it down a few stairs til i could go no further. they all had ahold of me, arms, legs, hair, and somebody is going through my pockets as another guy is punching me in the side of the face.some old lady comes out of her apt and starts yelling at the guys to let me go " let that boy go " i could remember it clear as day. they let me go and as soon as i start taking off one of them kicks me right in the bridge of the nose.  i run down to the first floor but don't know how to get out of the building being i was never there before and was a little panicky. there was a guy standing there so i asked him and he was nice enough to show me the right way but tried to pop me one on the way out.i guess this took all of a couple minutes and as i'm running out my buddy is coming in with a tire iron. i just told him "let's go"considering all that happened i didn't wind up too bad. a small cut on the bridge of my nose, a scratch or two on my face, some bruises, and no shirt(they ripped off my favorite shirt) i was totally thankful i didn't get stabbed.i told my parents we were playing basketball and some guys jumped us and stole our basketball

I don't know if they were mexican, guatemalan, whatever.  I'm pretty sure the kid is legal, the parents are not.  I don't want to turn this into a race issue.  There's a reason I asked it to go to That's Life. For everyone asking for an update.  My brother is doing much better.  They finally arrested the kid and he confessed immediately.  My brother will go back to school on Tues and is not scared anymore.  He's turning out to be a lot stronger than I thought he was.  No word yet on whether the kid will be expelled (we find out next week) or when his trial will be.

when I was about 8 by some local kids from the high school (yes....they
were White...lol).  It was pretty traumatic but we all have lifes
obstacles and random incidents to get past.  They got hardly more
than a slap on the wrist....but that is not the point.   He
will be ok.  We are more resilient that we give ourselves credit
for.And no worries... I know YOU are not interested in making anything an issue of race.  Jeff
got a bit Too silly with the DIRTY MEXICAN comments for this, rather
clean, well educated, Mexican (who had to study and wait years to be an
American and not just inherit it like so many other lucky people) 
to just turn the other cheek.  We are ALL a little racist ... I
admit to more than my own share (wheee) ....but I would be part of the
problem if I didn't play devils advocate in this particular

Wish him well for me.

Just wanted to say sorry to hear about this crazy shit, and I'm glad that the kid is getting prosecuted.

The self defense classes couldn't hurt, I took a few as an elective in junior high. They taught me some pretty cool shit that I actually (and unfortunatly) have used on more than one occasion.

Ditto to all the sentiments and wishes for your brother.  That is pretty f'ing crazy especially considering the area it happened in.  I had no idea things were bad like that there.   HOpefully this kid will get what is coming to him and your brother will be able to function as normally as you can after something liek this happens.  As hard as it is to stay calm during something like this it's best to make your brother's side of the case go more smoothly and I'm sure he knows you're trying your hardest to get answers and justice for him.

I am so mad I just can't even think right now.  The kid has been out of school since it happened.  There have been 3 meetings called to discuss the punishment with him and his parents and he hasn't showed to any of them.  The school has been taking it very seriously. We've had our lawyer friend speaking with the police and ADA.  The first sign I had that this wasn't really being taken seriously was the detective calling one of the witnesses and making a comment like "he's a good kid, he didn't mean to do this".  A GOOD FUCKING KID?  Yea, a good kid punches someone in the face repeatedly so hard that blood splatters onto his shoes and jeans, so hard that his nose breaks, attacks him from behind and kicks him while he's down.  Yea, thats a GOOD FUCKING KID. From what our lawyer friend said today, it looks like they want to send this kid to an "anger management" class and call it even.  I don't expect, nor want this kid to go to jail or anything, but an ANGER MANAGEMENT class????  I can't even.
