The event looks like it might be pretty cool, but there isn't much info other than submission guidelines. Is there any info regarding how much it will cost, surrounding activities, hotel specials, etc?

Full info up tomorrow (Friday the 6th). I can tell you that there will be 30 shorts and features - Friday night (27th) will be a double feature and some shorts with a theme of zombies and other flesh eaters (thanks to my very kind Opening Night sponsor, VIRGINIA BARBECUE of MANASSSAS - Thanks OGRE!!) - Saturday (28th) morning will be a hosted series by local tv legend Captain 20! (his alter ego, Count Gore, will be there Friday) - and all day on Sunday (29th) - everything ends with the east coast premiere of THE RED SHOES - a new ghost flick from Korea. A lot of the filmmakers are coming out, many locally but even some from California.

Very diverse group of movies - dropped off a pile of them for the City Paper late last night; working with someone at the Post; my friend at Variety is looking to write about it; the legend Arch Campbell is going to cover it the week before - kind of heady - right before I went to bed last night I actually yelled "WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING?!" All in all, though, it's going to happen - and it's going to be a lot of fun. If it is a success, then we'll do it again next year - even if it isn't I still might - it's been a great learning experience.

Holy crap this looks awesome. I couldn't find anything on the site about what it costs to attend or if you can reserve tickets prior to the event. It could be because I only got a few hours of sleep last night and its not even 8 am yet, but please let me know if I can.

Everything is set to go, but we still need to work out a couple of last minute details with the theatre - hopefully by 5pm tonight the website update will be live and reflect the full weekend, and I'm hoping by tonight the ability to purchase tickets will also be available.

Ticket prices are going to vary - opening night and the closing movie will be $10.00, and the rest are $8.00, but there are all sorts of big discounts to encourage people to go to one show (example: the opening night movies together might be $15 and not $20). The interest already, before any real publicity, is very encourgaging.

[UPDATE - 5:24 PM]

Website is updated with all the informaiton - the tickets will be available tomorrow through the theatre's website (linked from mine) or at their box office. Off to go join Bobo & Bitz in rockin' Cleveland!

New updated plug, partly because it's mentioned a couple of time! (THANKS!)

The Fest is this weekend - Friday, Saturday and Sunday - and tickets are available right now at the box office and online. Fridays should be a lot of fun - the features are both great (THE SLAUGHTER and PERVERT) - the shorts are a hoot. The lead actor from THE SLAUGHTER is coming in from LA. The whole evening is hosted by Count Gore De Vol.

Saturday is more "all ages" appropriate, although GIRL WITH GUN is maybe more PG-13. I even have a documentary and some animated works in there, which really makes me happy. Oh! And Count Gore's alter ego, Captain 20, will be there too (several 40 year olds just fainted somewhere). And Saturday night, ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW goes on over at University Mall, also in Fairfax.

Sunday back at Cinema Arts is jammed packed - from 10am-10pm - and it really is a lot of a lot of different stuff. Some really sick gross out shit back to back with very silly, funny stuff - and it all ends with THE RED SHOES, a really awesome Korean ghost story movie - everyone who sees just a little bit is like, "I need to see more!" It's some trippy, trippy stuff.

Article in tomorrow's Washington City Paper; maybe something in the Post; don't know about the Times; it was in last week's Connection Newspapers for Fairfax, Burke, McLean and some others (including quotes from me and OGRE (!) - who is my sponsor Friday night, with his awesome new eatery - Virginia Barbecue of Manassas). There's an interview this week on The Giant Show podcast (SWEET!) - and Arch Campbell is covering it Thursday and/or Friday.

If you STILL can't make any of that, there is an after party blowout at the Old Town Theatre in Alexandria on Halloween - NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

I love this time of year!!

If you are in the DC area this weekend go check out this event and hang with some friends of the show. AKA --- KOP, OGRE, BOBO, and hopefully a lot more DC area listeners will be there. I wish I was going to be in town for the event.

I know it will be a great time. I hope you pack the house.

Oh...yeah.

Wish you were here too, buddy - today there are two mentions in the Washington Post; it is in City Paper; and Arch's thing last night was silly but fun. Tonight might have a packed house - no way to tell, really (I'm refusing to call about online ticket sale because it will drive me nuts) since this is the first year for it. The Post mentions alone might really make a difference - right now I'm just happy it's here. It will be nice if there's a good crowd, because I have filmmakers coming in from LA and NY and even Ellicot City, Maryland!

Yesterday was "one of those days" - I actually was sitting on the "Meet The Press" set watching Arch interview "The Count," and then that evening got to go through the surviving footage of "Captain 20" (there's not much left, to be honest), picking some really cool clips for the Saturday morning program - some really rare local things that (odds are) will never be released in any form. And before I was looking at it, the only other person who even looked at these tapes is "Captain 20," and none more recently than the late 1970s. Quite a cool experience.

I sent an email to Schelby on WARW so hopefully she will give you a mention. She is pretty cool and that may bring in some more people.

What are my chances of showing up and buying tickets? Is this going to sell out early?
