Apparently they got in through the gmail account I set up for the page, because I am unable to access either the e-mail account or the myspace page controls. MySpace has been alerted and hopefully will take care of this problem. In the mean time, I apologize for any additional bulletins you may receive.

Thanks a lot Mikeyboy.

What was the password - Hey?

I also got some bulletin about a band called "Ten Day South."
The MySpace page has been frozen, so no additional bulletins will go out. Hopefully they'll have the account back in my hands quickly so I can restore the site. I've been told to expect that they don't always work quickly, so I don't know how soon that will be.

It was probably some script kiddie that hacked the myspace page and he broke rule number one, he posted his own website. How stupid is that! I'm sure myspace tracked his IP address and where his ISP. I think thats enough to pursue criminal charges.

What a brazen thing to be doing and really, it reeks of amateur script kiddy work.

There have been a rash of emails going out fishing for logins and passwords. Please be *very* careful as the emails are fairly well produced and ask you to click on a link to accept a MySpace message you have recieved, and the link takes you to a page that *looks* like MySpace, but isn't MySpace at all. If you enter in your login and password there, voila, they have your info. Not saying this is what happened, but it's the number one way peoples PayPals, Ebays, Bank Accounts, and MySpaces get taken advantage of. The links are sometimes very cleverly masked as well like this:

http://myspace.voip1.net/messages.php?id=328976

That is a fake link, btw, just an example of how if they put the MySpace in there first, some folks may unwittingly think it's an actual MySpace domain when in fact, in that example, it's a "voip1.net" domain. Copying the look and feel of MySpace's login page is extremely easy to do also. I still can't figure out exactly what happened. I regained control of the gmail account I set up for the myspace page. From the inbox, it was clear that someone accessed the gmail account, requested a password for the myspace page through password retrieval. Then that person read the e-mail with the new password and (presumably) used it to access the myspace page. The thing is that I rarely check that gmail account. I would guess that it wasn't been accessed in 4 or 5 months. Seeing as how the gmail account was likely the gateway to the page, I have no idea how they got access to it (the password wasn't obvious or show related).

Any new words on this? Should we create another one?

There is a slew of emails going out from people "phishing" for MySpace logins and passwords, disguised as real emails. I get them all the time and know to delete them, but I do wonder about other folks. Never, *EVER* enter your MySpace login and password unless the URL explicitly says:
