Scenario...

You're ordering a 12" sub. It could be a steak n' cheese, Italian, roast beef, chicken (fried or grilled), veggie, etc....

Tell me what you'd like on your sub. Be specific.

My fail-safe sub is... Steak and cheese (half white American and Provolone) with onions and mushrooms, with a little bit of shredded lettuce, (sometimes w/ tomato, depending on my mood) and some mayo and horseradish.

First off, thanks for calling it a Sub, and not a Hoagie or Grinder etc....

I keep it simple. The basic Italian with Boiled Ham, Salami and Provolone with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions (salt pepper oregano extra vinegar)...and only from Tastee Subs in Edison, NJ. It's worth the wait and shitty parking. I've been going there for 20 years.

My latest favorite is from Stio's Italian Deli in Hawthorne, NJ; delicious despite it's simplicity. The Godfather is roast beef, melted provolone, sauteed onions and horseradish mayo on a 12" semolina roll.

Provolone, genoa salami, capacola(sp?), pepperoni, let, tom, lots of onion, pepper rings, pickles, black olives, mayo, spicy mustard, must have oil + vinegar, and the salt/pepper/italian seasoning shaky container stuff [italian pixie dust]. DO NOT HEAT - Has to be cold! Serve with a side of Rolaids. Its also good to go vegetarian with this set up too, just add green peppers.

God you guys are making me hungry. Earl - do we have any subs back there?

Sorry Ron, we just ran out.

I's right off Broadway across from the public parking lot. I grew up in Bayonne. I'm going there this week for a haircut at Frank's Barber Shop. Maybe i'll pass Benanti's and try a sammich.

I doubt many of you will ever get to experience the original hoagie. In a little town called Milesburg,Pa is a hoagie shop called Millers. They have been in business so long that no one can remember when they opened. Their trademark is cheese first then veggies then meat. My fav... Chopped steak with pepperjack cheese and fried onions.
