I know it's been a while and semi unshow related, but I can't see a point in starting a new thread for this...Anyway my IT security buddy said that DoS attacks are really effective if you use <a href="http://www.honeynet.org/papers/bots/" target="_self">botnets.</a>Botnets are a collection of comprised computers (yay 24/7 highspeed internet connections).  Spammers use them all the time.  They are hard to block because there is no way of knowing if the system requesting data is a bot or a regular user.I also doubt that the caller has the ability to do it, but taking down a website that isn't mirrored a hundred thousand times (like google) is trivial to someone that knows what they are doing (I don't).
